Rada’s journey began in 2001 when our founder, Rafael Gonzalez, recognized the need for top-notch drapery and upholstery services that were missing from the market. With a background as an interior designer, Rafael’s frustration with the lack of high-quality options fueled his determination to create Rada.
Starting in a small antique shop, our commitment to exceptional craftsmanship and dedication to customer satisfaction quickly earned us a loyal following. As the business flourished, we expanded our operations, eventually acquiring four storefronts to accommodate the growing demand for our services. Since 2022, Rada has been under a new partnership that has brought in Juan Goldstein, an Argentine entrepreneur, and his wife Rosario Camarasa, who has a strong background in Fine Arts as well as being a psychologist. The team is rounded out by Carmen Portales, who has been in the decoration and upholstery industry for more than 30 years and has been a key part of Rada for the past 15 years. Additionally, Jose Amaya has joined the team and is responsible for the production department.
Working closely with our clients, we have gained invaluable insights into their unique needs and preferences. This understanding has emphasized the importance of sourcing the finest fabrics, building the sturdiest furniture frames, perfecting the art of drapery, and providing meticulous upholstery work. We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For the past two decades, our upholstery business in Miami has been a testament to resilience and dedication. Through the highs and lows of the ever-changing market, we have consistently strived for excellence in craftsmanship and customer satisfaction.
During the pandemic, our upholstery business thrived as people spent more time at home and sought to upgrade their decor. This increased demand for our services allowed us to adapt and grow, emphasizing the importance of creating comfortable and aesthetically pleasing living spaces. We remain committed to enhancing homes and businesses in Miami, even as circumstances change.
Since 2022, we have been working towards the goal of reducing production lead times and improving delivery services, as well as enhancing quality controls to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of our customers’ orders. Simultaneously, we have been focusing on digital marketing efforts, including the launch of Rada’s first website and the establishment of accounts on Instagram and Facebook to maintain daily and seamless communication with our customers. Our upcoming objectives include developing online sales capabilities and launching capsule collections of furniture and soft furnishings in collaboration with renowned interior designers.

Our sources of inspiration for our aesthetic mainly come from applications like Instagram and Pinterest, as well as decoration magazines and books. We are also inspired by old Hollywood movie sets and iconic designers such as Dorothy Parker, Sister Parish, and Tony Duquette, as well as contemporary figures like Kelly Wearstler, Gachot Studios, Pierce and Ward, and Bella Freud.
Additionally, thrifting is a huge passion of ours because we love bringing a good piece back to its glory or modernizing it according to new trends. We are equally inspired by many of the pieces brought by clients who have been in their families for years and strive to find them the perfect fabric from our large catalog collections.
