Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosana Vargas.
Hi Rosana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
About 22 years ago I approached the art of silversmithing while I was still studying at the university in Havana, Cuba. From the very first moment I sat down, held a torch or a hammer in my hands, and began shaping silver sheets, I knew it was part of my destiny. At that time, I didn’t know anything about “life mission” or “soul plan” — I was 19 years old — but today I understand that I didn’t arrive at this craft… the craft arrived to me.
From those early years I began to create and sell while I studied, and later on, in 2012, the brand ROX950 was officially founded. Since then, we have created more than 15 collections, always together with my family, who has been an essential and inseparable part of my life project and my business in Cuba.
Over the years we have designed more than a thousand pieces — collections inspired by Cuban architecture, by wine, by memories — pieces that turned the neck of a bottle, a moment, or a story into a jewel that speaks. That was when the jewelry stopped being just objects and began to hold soul, to become emotions in silver.
In 2018, we redesigned our logo and our slogan became: “ROX950 · Emociones de Plata” (in English, Silver Emotions). During that time I also continued teaching, creating training spaces for young jewelers, because in Cuba there is no longer a school for silversmithing or jewelry, and I deeply believe a craft must be passed on.
I completed my Master’s degree in Fashion Business Management (an MBA in Fashion) in Spain, to continue growing and leading the brand with a stronger business vision. But life took a dramatic turn: in 2018 we lost everything. Three years later, in 2021, we started again from zero in the United States.
Today, from a small workshop in Alachua, Florida — with more than 20 years of history but once again beginning anew — we continue creating jewelry, but now with intention. Not just silver emotions anymore, but pieces that help you remember, pieces that activate and align your energy through quartz, chakras, your birth moon, and the spiritual plan of your soul.
That is the intention of ROX950. Handmade jewelry in silver, copper, or gold, but always from intention. Pieces that do not just decorate… but remind. Pieces that accompany the awakening of your soul.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The path has been beautiful when I look at it from today, because it has allowed me to become who I wanted to be: a noble, sincere woman, full of love, positive—and that is the energy I infuse into my pieces. But it wasn’t always like that.
I was a young woman who didn’t grow up in a fully harmonious home. I had quite a few challenging chapters in my childhood. As a little girl, I had to look for answers, to understand what this experience was about—what life was, what happiness was, why I came here, and for what. And for 42 years I’ve been answering those questions.
Today, jewelry not only gives me the peace I need—it’s my tool, my language. Some people write books… I do it in Stories of Silver and Quartz, and this craft has answered many questions for me. By shaping metal, by giving form to each piece, I have given form to myself, so that I can place that intention of love, that touch of the divine into each creation. To do that, I too have had to become the purest version of myself.
I’ve had to deal with many demons, with many parts of me that I didn’t like—but that, at some point, showed me they were there so I could decide whether to identify with them or not. That is what silversmithing has been for me, and my life has revolved around this craft.
On the social and political side, everything related to Cuba brought economic and political challenges. I had to assume many responsibilities, looking after the stability of dozens of families who worked in my small company in Cuba—more than 20 families. That was a great responsibility. When the government came one day and took everything away from me, I felt not only the personal pain over what we had built as a brand and as a family, but also for all those families who depended on ROX.
At the same time, there was an internal war within me. Success was there, and my life project seemed beautiful—but there was a Rosana who had to deal with ego, arrogance, and certain attitudes that no longer define me today, but that did back then. Losing everything and starting over made me understand that you don’t really lose anything as long as you still have yourself. And sometimes life strips you of everything so that you can finally go find yourself.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Today, ROX specializes in creating amulets. Pieces made with intention that help you connect and remind you who you are.
We align chakras with channeled quartz based on your personal information, your natal moon with your birthstone quartz, stones selected according to your numerology number, Grabovoi codes, and numerical sequences that help you manifest. These are engraved onto silver and copper bracelets and pieces—designs with personal meaning for each individual. These are not pieces you can find just anywhere; they are exclusive, made only for you.
We take the time to connect with you. Beyond the material or symbolic value the piece may represent for our business, what truly matters is what it represents for you—and we make it possible. I believe that in times where everything moves so fast and we often only see numbers, stopping to honor people’s emotions—and turning those emotions into jewelry—makes all the difference.
We care about your energy: understanding what emotion needs to be transmuted, what energy may be blocking you, and which chakra or quartz can help you release your true self. Helping you move beyond denial, depression, lack of self-love, low self-esteem, or the belief that you’re not enough.
At ROX, we understand that everything is energy. And that’s what we do with our jewelry: help you connect with the most beautiful energy in the universe to create the life of your dreams—the life we all deserve. We are all creators of our own reality. Let our pieces become part of your creative universe.
That’s what makes me proud. I’m proud to be aligned with my life mission through such a beautiful and ancient craft. And that’s what sets us apart: jewelry made with intention, infused with real energy and passion, created especially for each person who comes to ROX.
What’s next?
Our future plans include continuing to build alliances—actually, to begin opening more collaborations, which is already part of our vision. We are looking to connect with those minds, those ideas, those souls who have something meaningful to share—who have built a personal brand and a community that they want to reach not only through words, but also through jewelry.
Together, we can co-create collections with messages aligned to their vision.
Projects like “Voces de Fate” are a beautiful example. This is one of the necklaces I recently shared—with a small pearl. In this case, Lisandra Morales is the creator of the project, and together, we are developing this collection to support her vision. The pearl in the necklace represents the voice—giving voice to women who have been emotionally or physically affected.
This is the kind of synergy I want in my path. Because I believe one plus one is always three—and with God’s guidance, I trust I’ll be led to connect with more people who want to have a “By ROX” collection, where we can co-create together.
That’s one of my future goals: to keep growing while staying aligned with the mission of ROX, which is to create jewelry with intention. To keep discovering new ways to reach, to grow, and to build the brand—with purpose.
Jewelry that not only has the lifetime value and quality that defines us, but also carries spiritual and energetic meaning that becomes part of each person who chooses ROX.
Our vision is to become a global brand, expanding ROX through multiple franchises and collaborations around the world—so that our intentional jewelry can reach and inspire millions of souls across the planet.
