Meet Robert Izquierdo | E-commerce Marketing Manager | Strategy Specialist

We are thrilled to be connecting with Robert Izquierdo again. Robert is an E-commerce Marketing Manager and Strategy Specialist and is also a content partner. Content partners help Voyage in so many ways from spreading the word about the work that we do, sponsoring our mission and collaborating with us on content like this. Check out our conversation with Robert below.

Hi Robert, thank you so much for sitting down with us again. For folks who might have missed our initial interview, can you start by briefly introducing yourself?
I help e-commerce brands improve their marketing ROI through data-driven strategy and refined brand messaging. Over the course of my ten-year career, I have positioned myself at the forefront of trends to best serve my clients. I specialize in online marketing and multimedia campaigns, using the power of video to drive results. My innovative approach places your company’s strategy at the nexus of brand value and your industry’s best practices.

I was recently appointed to lead omnichannel strategy as Sr Manager – Digital Marketing Latin America in nine countries for Gilead Sciences to drive digital transformation initiatives for five Medical E-learning Platforms.
I manage the execution of strategic plans in partnership with key internal and external stakeholders throughout each stage of the platform’s development cycle.

What are young marketers doing to de-stress and take care of their mental, spirit, and health?
As a digital marketer, the complexity of each role I chose to be in requires so much of my attention and split-second on-demand decision-making to achieve the project’s objectives. As a result, I have recently found my rhythm into a good balanced work and wellness lifestyle.

Everybody’s mind, body, and spirit is different and what works for me may not work for you, so I want to share what has worked for me and hopefully, you get creative as a young professional and adapt it to your life in a comfortable manner and a pleasure to do and not feel like an obligation

Mind: Our mind can lead us to so many paths that sometimes cannot be the healthiest so we must learn how to train our mind to think in a positive higher frequency. I learned to manage this by talking to a mentor/professional coach who is wealthy and has mastered assertiveness and gives unbias guidance on all professional topics I may have to discuss. So #1 get a good coach you can plan with and strategize big moves in your career.

Spirit: Every morning before I start my days I Chant and Meditate. Chanting is part of a Buddhist practice that I use as an spiritual foundation for my life and uses a mantra called nam-myoho-renge-kyo.
Meditation is the other tool I’ve been using, specifically the 21 day meditation challenge from Deepak Chopra, which states that to change something in your life, you need 21 days to reprogram the most important muscle in our body the “Brain”. So any good positive mix of mindfulness meditation can work for you 10-20min daily.

Here is one that I truly enjoy with J Balvin:

Health: The basics that we all tend to forget but are good to remind, eat healthily, and exercise daily. I might slack on this, but I try and trying is better then not doing it. lol.

Stress is the perception of the threatening thought, and if you don’t identify with it, then there is no stress. #deepakchopra

How do you manage a team of creatives in a high stress environment? Any advice for others?
I have found that stress is only stressful if you are not organized and prepared.

Team management has to be simple and fun. The exchange of communication has to be equal and not demanding but collaborative.

Organize by:
Get a project management tool, for example Monday, Trello, Jira
Keep detailed notes.
Integrate your team into the project so they feel a sense of responsibility to create and contribute.
Know your team’s weaknesses and strengths.
Organize your team’s priorities daily based on a monthly plan.

Preparation:
Meet your team and see what makes this team functional or dysfunctional and then make plans to improve processes if needed.
Make team workshops to share and collaborate ideas.
Treat your team as assists not liablities= As a leader pay attention to your team members and give them importance and integrate them into your plans of deployment.
Set 1 on 1 meetings with each team member.
Set at least 1 day a week to play a creative game to build team spirit and foster collaboration. Have fun and create on!

A happy team makes the dream work!

What are the three main things you enjoy as a marketer?
Learning brand’s stories and being able to create content around their “WHY” factor is my favorite. – Storytelling via content
– Creating clever video ads
– working with creative professionals – you know Pros that love what they do and bring the best every day.

Thank you so much again for sharing all of this with us. Before we go, can you share with our readers how they can connect with you, learn more or show support?
