Today we’d like to introduce you to Ricardo Nunez.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I think it was in 2009, I was living in Miami, and my friend El HASE (ny-caracas), I knew him from my home town Caracas, came to visit me as he was in town to paint a wall during Art Basel. During those days, he introduced me to PEZ Barcelona, and both of them stayed at my place and started introducing me to the world of street art, as both where super involved in the scene.
Since that day, I guess I started my process to become the artist I am today.
Please tell us about your art.
I paint Murals and Canvas. My style is a mix of Abstract, geometry, color overlays, transparencies. I really like to play with colors, colors degrade.
I paint with Spray Paint because it was the tool it was given to me when I started painting.
Basically, my street artist friends were my teachers, so each time a friend of mine came to visit to paint in Wynwood, they will leave a bunch of spray cans at my place, so I started to use them and start creating some art.
My friends Pez & Kenor from Barcelona, Spain, always thought me that to paint is happiness, is good times, is for the people, so I always try to give that energy to my pieces, bringing color to places or spaces that doesn’t have it, or bringing something different so that others can appreciate.
my inspiration are my friends, my family, the people that appreciate and like my art.
Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
My only advice is to work hard, nonstop, believe in yourself and own it!
Be organize and aggressive in a professional way and don’t lose opportunities, because if you don’t take chances, others will.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
They can follow me on Instagram/slomo29 and my web page www.slomo29.com.
Those two is where I post most of my works.
This summer I will be in Barcelona, working in an Installation, and a mural will be painting in Berlin as well.
Then coming back to Miami, to make an Exhibition in Wynwood/Allapatah at the end of the year.
You can support by following me and buying some of my art. 🙂
