Today we’d like to introduce you to Raibelis Paulino.
Raibelis, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born on the island of the Dominican Republic. When I was three years old, my parents and I migrated to the Bronx New York. As a teenager, we moved to West Palm Beach Florida, where I would finish my schooling. In high school, I joined the drama club and participated in several shows. Since I was a child, I loved cinema. And I knew that when I grew up, I wanted to be an actor. But it wasn’t just acting that drew me to movies. It was the whole production. The camera work, The costumes, the storylines. I fell in love with filmmaking and the entertainment industry. I decided that this was my journey. But I didn’t know where to start.
I attended the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale with the hopes that it would give me direction. I started Auditioning and performing in live theater. I scored a paid internship with HBO Latino. I got myself, two different Agents, with the hopes of getting more work. But I got tired of only ever getting cast as the background. So I decided to make my own movies and put myself as the main character. Through social media, I have gained an audience And true supporters. “Bliss of Rai” is my newest short film I wrote and directed it was released this year. And was submitted to several film festivals. Now the next step is to continue to make films during this pandemic.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The only struggle was with myself and having self-doubt.

I am a well-rounded filmmaker. From the cinematography to the Wardrobe to the lighting, I can do it all. The difference is me. We all have a purpose on this earth and mine is to create.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is honestly in the eye of the beholder. If I can make movies for the rest of my life and feed and spoil my family because of it, then I know I made it.
