Meet Rachel Hernandez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Hernandez.

Rachel, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’d say my story started the day my dad first let me play games on his computer. I loved it! Soon enough, I wanted a computer of my own. So with the help of my dad, I saved up. Piece by piece, it slowly came together. I can’t even begin to describe the excitement building inside me at the time! Let me put it like this… it’s my “baby”.

Since then, I’ve been gaming. Meeting new people. Making friends around the globe. It 100% made me the person I am today. Just between you and me… I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Not until a couple of months ago did I realize I could turn my passion into something more. So, I started streaming on Twitch. Initially, I could only stream when I had free time. Now I have a weekly schedule of Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays (8pm est).

At the end of the day, I’m just a girl gaming hoping to bring laughter to an audience that is further than what I can physically reach.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, it was practically smooth sailing up until now. I say “practically” because, first of all, I have been learning to edit clips from my stream so that I may expand on to YouTube. Secondly, trying to come up with better content every week can be a challenge.

Now, the most recent struggle has been internet connection. Due to the current pandemic, internet has been spotty. In order to have the ability to stream, I need a strong internet connection. Therefore, some days I’m live on Twitch for maybe an hour or not able to be on at all.

What else should our readers know?
Well, I’m a (small) streamer on Twitch. I play video games, entertain, and sometimes draw.

Most proud of hmm… I’d say my determination to keep improving.

For what sets me apart from others, I’d say my creativity. Everyone has their own but each is completely different.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Oh man! I have soooo many to pick from! Okay, okay, I got it! So a few years back. My sisters had planned a surprise trip to Disney World for my birthday. I won’t get into detail about the whole day… because the peak of the trip was the ending. Let me set the scene where everything fell apart and yet somehow came perfectly together.

We were in Magic Kingdom. It was around 9:00 pm and we were sitting on a curb waiting for the fireworks along with the rest of the crowds surrounding us. In the distance, we noticed a thunderstorm. Being the jokesters that we are, we laughed at the idea of the storm canceling the show and there being pure chaos in leaving. Maybe five minutes later, an announcement was made that the show would be delayed. In that moment, Ely and I suggested that maybe we should leave right then and there just in case the storm did hit. Our older sister, Amarys shut down the idea as it was being said because she saved the spot and waited for an hour. She really did not want that hour to be a total waist. So, we waited some more and rest assured it was delayed further. A few minutes later, there was thunder rattling our eardrums not too far away. Almost immediately after, extremely bright lightning struck to the point Ely thought it was someone taking a photo in front of us. Then it started to drizzle and the show was announced canceled.

Our joke became a reality and Ely and I could not stop laughing at that fact because we not only parked at Animal Kingdom. We parked at the furthest part of that parking lot. While still only in Magic Kingdom, it went from a light drizzle to immediately pouring rain. It was a crowd of, practically, shoulder to shoulder trying to leave the park. So, we single filed like a conga line to get through as fast as possible because we had to catch a bus to Epcot to then catch another to Animal Kingdom.

Now, this is the cream of the crop. We get off the last bus… Only for the rain to somehow get SO MUCH WORSE! For some reason, we thought walking/running to the car was a better idea than hopping on the trolly. Not our finest hour, but it made a great memory. We felt like we were walking endlessly on a treadmill while under a waterfall. While most would see this as horrible conditions. We made the best out of the moment. Dancing in the rain. Splashing each other. I had never felt so free. That trip in all its glory is my favorite childhood memory.

Thankfully we caught it all on video…
