Today we’d like to introduce you to Priya Alexander Edelson.
Hi Priya, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in Orlando, Florida, after my parents immigrated to the United States. From an early age, I was always drawn to science, health, and helping others, which ultimately led me to pursue a career in medicine.
I attended the University of Florida for my undergraduate degree and later earned my Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies from Nova Southeastern University, graduating in 2022. My journey through PA school was especially memorable because much of it took place during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Balancing the demands of an intense PA program while navigating such an unprecedented time in the world taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of continuing to show up even when circumstances are challenging.
After graduating, I moved to Fort Lauderdale and began my career practicing family medicine. While I truly valued the foundation primary care gave me and the opportunity to care for patients in a traditional medical setting, I always had a strong interest in aesthetic medicine.
Breaking into the aesthetics industry, however, was not easy. Without prior aesthetic experience, it was extremely difficult to land my first opportunity, and I was told “no” more times than I can count. But I continued pursuing additional training, education, and experience, determined not to give up on the career I envisioned for myself.
After several years of practicing medicine and continuing to invest in my education, I was able to transition into my dream career: working as an aesthetic injector. My practice includes neurotoxin and filler treatments, skin rejuvenation procedures such as microneedling and laser treatments, as well as other wellness-focused services including hormone replacement therapy and IV therapy.
Today, I focus on creating natural, confidence-boosting results while prioritizing patient safety, education, and individualized treatment. Every patient is different, and I love being able to use both my medical background and artistic eye to help people feel like the best version of themselves.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Breaking into the aesthetics industry was one of the most challenging parts of my journey. Without prior aesthetic experience, it was extremely difficult to land my first opportunity, and I was told “no” more times than I can count. Instead of letting that discourage me, I became even more determined to find a way in.
I spent my time shadowing experienced injectors, networking with professionals in the industry, and continuously expanding my knowledge and skill set. I also recognized that becoming a valuable provider in an aesthetic practice meant bringing more to the table than just an interest in injectables.
By developing experience in hormone replacement therapy, medical weight loss, and other wellness services, I was able to make myself a more competitive and well-rounded candidate.
Eventually, that persistence paid off. After years of practicing medicine, continuing my education, and investing in myself professionally, I was finally able to transition into what I consider my dream career in aesthetic medicine. Looking back, all of those “no’s” ultimately pushed me to work harder, become more resourceful, and prove to myself that sometimes you have to create your own path to the career you want.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work focuses on aesthetic medicine and wellness, with an emphasis on helping patients look and feel like the best version of themselves. I specialize in natural-looking injectables, particularly lip filler and Botox, with the goal of enhancing my patients’ features rather than changing them.
Skin health is also a huge part of my practice. I’m passionate about educating patients on the importance of daily SPF and personalized skincare, as well as treatments like microneedling and laser therapy to improve skin quality and overall complexion. I also incorporate peptides and other wellness treatments into my practice to support patients from the inside out.
What I’m most proud of is the trust my patients place in me. Aesthetic medicine is incredibly personal, and I never take that responsibility lightly. I believe what sets me apart is the combination of my medical background, attention to detail, artistic eye, and commitment to truly listening to each patient’s goals. I want all patients to feel confident, healthy, and like the best version of themselves.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is my family. My husband Kevin, my parents, Anjali and Mark, and my sister, Anna – they are truly my foundation. They have supported me through every step of my journey, the long nights studying in PA school, the sacrifices, the career changes, the moments of self-doubt, and all the times I questioned whether I was on the right path.
There were so many late nights, stressful days, and moments when I felt like giving up, and they were always there reminding me to keep going. I wouldn’t be where I am today without their unconditional support and belief in me. My career is something I’m incredibly proud of, but being surrounded by the people I love is what makes all of it meaningful.
