Meet Polo Pierre-Louis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Polo Pierre-Louis.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Having grown up in a family of musicians and dancers, the arts have always been a subject that have captured my interest and influenced my passions. Now at 27 years old, I am the CEO and Owner of “PLAIN OPERATIONS”, a consulting firm specializing in the fashion, music and film industries, from runway show styling and curating, music video creative direction to logistics coordinating for record label executives. Growing up in Miami, I was just another kid with hoop dreams and in 2005, my older cousins introduced me to their new “go-to” favorite rapper, Pharrell Williams, and this would go on to change my life forever. His love for marching band instruments and skateboard streetwear fashion-sense instantly drew me in, and I would spend hours upon hours studying, imitating and recreating this “Afro-Skate” image. A few years later, artists like Kanye West, Lil Wayne and A$AP Rocky would continue to cultivate my style as an individual and helped develop my ear even further, which influenced an interest in the music making process. It was then that I began an internship with the House of Dreams Recording Studio, and after about a year, I was hooked onto the studio life.

Beginning “PLAIN OPERATIONS”, has given me the ability and freedom to harness my talents, interests and passions in a variety of creative channels and has allowed tremendous success for others its start in 2015. The goal for the companies future would be to continue growing the “collective” feeling that is “PLAIN OPERATIONS”.

My goal is that in the next five years, “PLAIN OPERATIONS” become an outlet and place for creative professionals of the highest level, to be able to collaborate and create without limitations and become the most sought out group of stylists, editors, artists, engineers, etc. amongst many others creative genres.

Please tell us about your art.
I first found my niche in art with Wardrobe styling and fashion design. I work on sets of music videos, film, T.V. award shows, etc. coordinating fashion and styling the talent. I also began designing and producing my first clothing line “IV The People”. I designed T-shirts, hats, pants, jackets, etc. Through the years, my passions and strengths have broadened into the music industry. I’ve become what they call they call in the industry an “A&R” (Artist & Repertoire). An individual works closely with talent of the industry, primarily the bringing artists and producers together to create, “The Dot Connector”. The last year and a half Ive dipped my foot more into the creative process and have been songwriting for prominent hip-hop/R&B artists

We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
My advice to anybody considering the “artist lifestyle” is that what people say is true. It is a lonely and emotionally challenging way of life but doesn’t have to necessarily. Ego is something I learned to put aside long ago, and it has taken me a great length, in maintaining supporters of my craft, and friends that love and care about my artistic journey. So if Ego is something you can learn to put aside and connect, appreciate and support others, that energy will usually always be reciprocated.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
Amongst the retailers such as Lulu Laboratories, and Appt. The only Showroom, in Miami, FL that carry my “PLAIN” apparel, all of my pieces are available to purchase online through my website, and ETSY.

You can support and find all of my creative work on my company website: www.PLAINOPERATIONS.com
