Today we’d like to introduce you to NanDee.
NanDee, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Eight years ago, I was invited to a former high school friend’s birthday pole party. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go, I never heard of a “pole party” before. However, I decided to go and I’m so glad I did! Mind you, I couldn’t any trick that was taught at the party, but I was determined to take classes and learn. And that’s exactly what I did. I fell madly in love with the art of pole dancing. Two years ago, I decided to open my own pole fitness studio to teach other women how amazing the pole could be.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road. There were a few obstacles put in front of me. I’ve always been a curvy, thick woman so certain pole tricks were not easy to do at first. I had more weight to lift and manage, but I never let that stop me on my pole journey. It really helps you practice patience.
Starting a pole studio was challenging as well. It was a lot of work. Sleepless nights designing and constructing my website, flyers, class schedule, and researching first time businesses information. Countless trips to construction and furniture stores for the studio. It was a bit stressful at times, but so worth it. I’m so in love with the life I created for myself. Which revolves mainly around the art of pole. I also started a clothing line for pole dancers as well.
Pole Felony Fitness – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Pole Felony Fitness is a pole dance and fitness gym. We offer a variety of pole fitness classes. We specialize in Twerk of Art choreography and TwerkOut Cardio Classes (it’s everyone’s favorite). We also host private pole parties for any occasion or celebration. The feeling you get when you walk into Pole Felony Fitness is what sets apart from other fitness facilities. You feel comfortable and at home. Most of our clients say the studio is their “Happy Place”. Working out in a space that’s non- intimidating and fun is something special.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We plan on adding more aerial fitness class options like Silks and Lyra.
