Hi Percival, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always been a creative at heart. From writing contests in school, to discovering poetry. Writing was always my thing. To this day it still is. At some point I got really into flying drones, to the point where a friend of mine saw the videos I was making and asked me to do whatever I do, but do it at their wedding. It was my first paid gig for anything I did creatively. I quickly realized I needed a camera. As soon as I purchased my first camera, it was like a multitude of doors began to open for me. Now to make a long story short, I’ve become a twice published author and a published photographer. I’ve enjoyed all the blessings that art has afforded me and I think without it my life would be no where near the same.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Creatively you’re always going to have your moments. Life is going to life whether you want it to or not. But to be honest I think my biggest struggles have been my personal learning curve. Everything I’ve ever tried creatively I learned on my own. As much as I’ve always wanted a mentor for poetry, photography, videography, and so on, I’ve never found one. So I had to learn to give myself grace and give myself opportunities to learn. But regardless it’s been a very entertaining road despite the bumps and I’ve definitely enjoyed myself.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Metaphor Heaven LLC ?
Metaphor Heaven is essentially the creative flag i fly when I do anything. From writing books, to clothing design, photography, videography, and so on. I wanted to make sure that I created a brand that represented my individual creations. Through the Metaphor Heaven I offer services such photography, videography, a clothing line, custom flyers, and licensed drone pilot services. More than anything else I am probably more known for my poetry and photography over the other things. I look at every photo shoot as a partnership between myself and my subject. They play just as much of a role in the photography we are going to create as I do. At least that is what I like to think. I try to create an atmosphere that is comfortable, reassuring, and most of all fun. If nothing else during a photo shoot with me we should definitely be laughing. It’s an honor to me to know that my clients enjoy their photo shoot as well as their pictures. Like any artist, we all want to be seen or heard in whatever style of artistry we are presenting. So for me the acknowledgment of my work when it comes to being able to be published in whatever craft I am representing at the moment is an honor in itself.
