Meet Paula Kvarnberg of Connect! dog training in West Palm Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paula Kvarnberg.

Paula decided early on in teaching agility that she only wants to be around people who are serious about improving in agility. They don’t have to have the fastest dog or only a border collie or a sheltie but they need to CARE. They also need to care about their classmates and supporting them. Agility is HARD and it is SO easy to make a small mistake that they HAVE to lift each other up and cheer when things are going right but more importantly, when they are not.

Paula also wants to be around people who want to try new things because she does. She loves to go to world-class trainers, learn new ways of doing things and share with her students. She wants handlers that will try new things knowing sometimes they work with some dogs and sometimes they don’t, but if you don’t try, your tool box will always be small. She wants to work with people that are FUN. She wants people that want to celebrate because they are lucky to be with their dogs and each other. To Paula that is CONNECT! dog training and she is honored to call those in it her family.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have been so lucky in having the business grow almost without my help. I try to do the best for each person and each dog every single second and the business has grown beyond my belief!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about CONNECT! dog training – what should we know?
Paula Kvarnberg became addicted to agility in 2007 with her then 5-year old Shetland Sheepdog, Duncan. They trained, became a team and succeeded in earning their MACH (Masters Agility Championship). Since then, she added 3 additional shelties to her pack that all compete in agility with titles in AKC and USDAA.

Paula does not follow an exact handling system but believes in being positive and consistent and doing what works best for each individual dog. Paula enjoys being a student of agility and believes in learning from the best: she has taken seminars with Loretta Mueller, Tuulia Liuhto, Timo Liuhto, Ann Braue, Barb Davis, Dudley Shumate, Jessica Ajoux, Rosanne DeMascio, Kris Seiter, Chris Tucci, Gabrielle Blackburn, Karen Holik, Mary Ellen Barry, Tracy Sklenar and many others. She enjoys teaching agility and has been doing so for the past 5 years and takes great pride in watching her students learn and grow.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I give each dog and handler personalized attention and advise for their particular dog.
