Meet Patrick Blanchard of Fort Lauderdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Blanchard.

Patrick Blanchard

Hi Patrick, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey has been a fusion of creativity and business, rooted in my childhood experiences. Growing up in Little Haiti, I spent countless hours in the Edison Center Branch Library, immersed in art books of all kinds—from sculpture to photography to comics. The graffiti on the walls and bus stops around the neighborhood also captivated me. When my mother gave me an Etch A Sketch, it became my first tool for artistic expression, where I learned to carefully create perspective views of my surroundings, sketching skyscrapers, and even designing my first cartoon character. These early experiences nurtured my photographic memory and sparked a lifelong love for shapes, colors, and drawing. Art has always been my escape—doodling, painting, and sketching have remained my way of de-stressing.

On the business side, I was fortunate to grow up alongside my grandfather, a man who taught me the value of entrepreneurship from a young age. His carpentry business in Haiti, where he built caskets for the military, expanded into a thriving cargo company, sending goods across the Caribbean. I often translated for him when we visited the Opa-Locka Flea Market to purchase items for his shipments. A moment that stands out in my memory is when I helped translate a deal for him at a bicycle store, where he bought the entire inventory from one shop after being dismissed by another. This taught me important lessons about humility and the unpredictable nature of wealth.

Over time, I found ways to combine both sides of myself—my passion for art and my business acumen. That balance has allowed me to develop into the person I am today, someone who appreciates the beauty in creative expression while also navigating the practicalities of entrepreneurship. This fusion continues to inspire me and shape my path forward.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has certainly not been smooth. Growing up in Little Haiti exposed me to both the beauty and the challenges of life. I remember experiencing my first kiss, my first date, and the realization much later that I didn’t even know I was poor. I saw friends from Haiti, newly arrived and struggling to learn English, being bullied for simply trying to adapt to a new culture. Those moments left a mark on me, teaching me early on about resilience and the complexity of human behavior.

My mother, who came to Miami from Haiti on a mid-sized boat where I was born out at sea, struggled constantly to keep a roof over our heads. It wasn’t until I was 8 years old that I discovered I wasn’t an only child. We took a trip to Haiti, and that’s when I met my four other siblings, learning that I was actually the baby of five. I still remember that two-week summer vacation vividly, sketching the beauty of the country and drawing my eldest brother riding a bicycle with no hands.

But not everything was as colorful as my sketches. My father wasn’t a big part of my life. He had another family, and to this day, my two siblings from that side don’t even know I exist. It’s a strange and sometimes painful reality, but it shaped me into who I am.

Life has been a rollercoaster, full of highs and lows, but every struggle has taught me something valuable. I learned that perseverance, even in the face of uncertainty and hardship, is what keeps you moving forward. It’s been a journey of finding balance between the chaos and the calm, between creativity and survival.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a person of many talents, but what really stands out for me is photography. I picked up a camera back in 2006, and I’ve never put it down since. Photography became more than just a hobby—it’s my way of expressing myself, my form of therapy, and the ultimate release of my creativity. There’s something powerful about capturing a moment in time, knowing that it can never be replicated the same way again.

What sets me apart is my ability to see the world through a unique lens. I don’t just take pictures; I tell stories through my photos. Whether it’s a candid moment, an event, or a landscape, I aim to capture the essence of that scene so others can feel it, too. I take pride in my ability to freeze those moments and let them live on for others to experience, as if they were right there.

What I’m most proud of is the impact my work has on people. Seeing their reactions, hearing them talk about how a particular photo made them feel, or how it reminded them of a special moment, means the world to me. It’s that connection through art that drives me. Photography isn’t just about the technical skill; it’s about the emotion and meaning behind each shot. That’s what keeps me inspired and motivated to keep doing what I love.
I have a deep connection with my craft, and that includes my four different cameras, each of which I’ve affectionately named: Girlfriend, Baby Mama, Sister Wife, and Side-Chick. Each camera has its own unique features that make it special and suited for different types of photography. I’m known for capturing a wide range of subjects, from fashion shows and implied nudes to celebrity portraits, editorials, and magazine shoots.

One of my proudest accomplishments is being published in over 20 magazines across the globe. It’s always a rewarding experience to see my work recognized and appreciated on an international level. What sets me apart from others is my patience and dedication to working with anyone. My goal is always to capture your moment exactly how you envision it, ensuring that your vision comes to life through my lens.

Aside from photography, I’m also skilled in videography, graphic design, model management, content creation, web design, and even editing photos for other photographers. My wide range of talents allows me to approach each project from multiple angles, giving me the ability to deliver a comprehensive creative experience.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The quality I believe has been most important to my success is a blend of several key traits that have shaped who I am as both an artist and a professional. Confidence is at the core. Without confidence in my abilities and in the vision I bring to life, I wouldn’t be able to push boundaries or take the creative risks that set me apart. It’s that self-assurance that allows me to work with anyone, regardless of the challenge, knowing I can capture their moment the way they envision it.

Passion drives everything I do. From picking up a camera in 2006 and never looking back, to continuously refining my skills in photography, videography, and design, my love for the craft has kept me moving forward. Passion fuels my persistence—when obstacles arise, it’s my love for what I do that keeps me focused on the goal, no matter how long or difficult the path may be.

Focus and self-discipline are equally crucial. In a world full of distractions, maintaining a clear focus on my goals and keeping my eye on the bigger picture has allowed me to thrive. Self-discipline ensures I follow through on what I’ve set out to do, balancing the demands of creativity with the structure needed to make things happen.

Flexibility has also played a huge role in my success. No two projects are the same, and I’ve learned that being adaptable to different situations, styles, and client needs is essential. It’s through flexibility that I’ve been able to stay open to new ideas and keep my work fresh and dynamic.

Organization helps me manage the many facets of my work. Whether it’s coordinating shoots, editing photos, or delivering content on time, staying organized allows me to stay on top of things without missing a beat.

Finally, curiosity is what pushes me to continually learn and evolve. It’s what drives me to explore new techniques, experiment with different styles, and always ask myself, “What’s next?” In this ever-changing industry, staying curious keeps me ahead of the curve and ensures that my work remains relevant and innovative.

Together, these qualities—confidence, passion, focus, persistence, flexibility, self-discipline, organization, and curiosity—have shaped my path to success, allowing me to build a career I’m proud of and continue growing in ways I never imagined.
