Patricia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started event planning as a hobby over five years ago. I say hobby, because it was something I love to do just for fun and for my community. My first huge event in Miami, FL was a kids fashion show at the Don Shula Hotel. I anticipated about 60 people attending because I was so afraid of no one believing in me. I was wrong. Over 400 guest in attendance including Mario Chalmers of the Miami heat, Yo Gotti, Michael Beasley, and much more. I was so shocked at the turnout. I had to pinch myself twice to see if it was a dream. No, it was not a dream. It was God and hardwork. That was the start of a new beginning. Tres Elegant Event & Decor!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, not at all. It was hard doing it all by myself. With not a dime in site. Lol. I laugh now because I asked myself every day how did we get by? During the process of building my brand, I struggled tremendously with depression broke down at times until my husband convinced me to go to counseling. I did decide to do counseling and it worked. I bottled all my pain inside while coordinating/hosting empowerment events for inner-city kids to suppress the pain I had bottled inside. It worked for the moment. After the events, it was back to reality. I truly recommend to anyone that is starting a new business to work on yourself first and everything will workout better for you!

Tres Elegant Event & Decor is an event and decor business. We specialize in weddings, corporate events, birthdays, community outreach events and much more. As a company, we are most proud of giving back to the community. We are currently planning a FREE “Pretty in Pink Empowerment Brunch for Young Girls Ages 10-18 July 28th, 2019 in Pembroke Pines, FL. Some of the topics we are targeting at the event will be: Mental Illness, Self-Care/ Hygiene, Financial Literacy and much more. We also volunteer at shelters and assist other organizations with community outreach events as well. What sets us apart from others is that we love giving back no matter what.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t think it’s really luck of any kind. I do believe it’s hard work and dedication, focusing on my goals, not following the masses, being true to myself and giving back played a major part in my life and business. We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude. That is why I am forever grateful for what I have and what’s to come in the near future!
