I moved to Cyprus from Turkey to attend university in the 1990s. After I received my bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Girne American University in Kyrenia, a city in the northern area of Cyprus, I started to do business in trucking over there. Things did not work as I wished, and this was the time I decided to move to the US to take my chances here. When I arrived in Miami in 1999, I took a job at Royal Caribbean and later worked as General Manager at Pasha’s Restaurant Inc. With the money I earned, I purchased my first truck in 2006 and founded BOS Group, which is today one of South Florida’s largest third-party logistics providers. By working hard, I expanded my business to a fleet of trucks, warehouses, and offices now operating as BOS Group.
Throughout the years, I have been involved in virtually every aspect of the trucking industry, including logistics, technology, transportation, and finance. I always like to find easy and permanent solutions for whatever the problem is. In 2015, QuickLoad started with my simple observation that most of my trucks were half empty and it could take up to 16 phone calls and emails to complete the job. I always think that technology can change the way the trucking industry works. This belief in technology has been the stronger force behind how QuickLoad has been developing since 2015. Quickload eliminates all the hardships truckers and shipping companies may face by matching truckers and shippers via an intuitive desktop platform and a mobile application. Shippers get their goods delivered quickly; truckers eliminate empty miles. A win-win scenario.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has never been a smooth road. However, if you believe in yourself, you can do everything. After a failed business investment in a truck trailer company that led to bankruptcy in Cyprus, I moved to Miami with my sister. I had only $600 in my pocket. I felt somewhat disappointed and knew that it was not easy to make money with this tight budget. During that time, setting achievable goals was my primary motivation to move ahead. Therefore, I was involved in various jobs and learned from them a lot. Then, with the money I earned, I purchased my first truck in 2006. This was the moment I started to make my dreams come true. As I said, if you set achievable goals for yourself, achieving them step by step can result in big success stories in the long run. BOS Transport, in 2005, started to operate with just one truck.
Year after year, I expanded my business further to fulfill all the logistics requirements a shipping company may have, from Warehouse to Business Center under BOS Group During these years, I have been open to change as always and questioning how I can do my job better. If anyone wants to take a smooth road, I guess he does not think about this type of question at all. My journey with QuickLoad always reminds me of one thing: I dream big and I work hard. This technology company now extremely simplifies shipping and I am proud of this. All these things did not happen suddenly for sure, but if you are committed to what you are doing, you can be successful.
QuickLoad – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Quickload is an online freight platform that connects shippers to truckers, bringing much-needed efficiency and transparency to the trucking industry. We enable online quoting and booking of container, less-than-truckload (LTL), and full-truckload (FTL) shipments. We also provide warehousing and transloading services as well. There two main actors: Shippers and Carriers.
Shippers are the companies or individuals who look for a trusted trucker to move their freight quickly. As the QuickLoad Team, we are proud that shipping companies no longer need to deal with all the shipping process. We simplify everything for them. By using QuickLoad, shippers can reach a large network of trusted carriers across the US and get container, FTL, and LTL rates in seconds. These are the competitive confirmed rates with no surprises. We also enable shippers to book their shipments instantly and track their shipments easily. We put an end to paperwork and enable digital invoicing. While providing all these services, transparency always comes first for us. Therefore, there is no monthly fee or hidden costs.
The other main actors are carriers. They can be the trucking companies or owner-operators who look for a way to expand their business by getting new jobs and moving shipments with their trucks. At QuickLoad, carriers can pick the loads they want to haul and get paid immediately with no factoring fees. At the same time, we have a user-friendly QuickLoad mobile app for carriers to keep track of their loads.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The moment that things did not work in Cyprus and I decided to move to Miami undeniably had a great impact on my life. I would have called it bad luck in the past, but now I see that it was absolutely the luck of my life. When I founded BOS Group with one truck, I also put myself at risk because if the business would not have been successful, I could not encourage myself to go one step further, take another risk and integrate trucking with technology. Today, I am very proud of QuickLoad and my team. QuickLoad is not only a smart trucking platform, it is beyond this. QuickLoad is the fruit of the years of experience, the belief in technology, and the proof that teamwork always wins.
