Meet Olga Gubko of Miami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olga Gubko

Hi Olga, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I began my journey into photography and editing at the age of 14, starting with self-portraits as a form of entertainment. I taught myself how to retouch, create mask collages, and explore other techniques—all on my own, using just a Photoshop book, without any formal training or teachers. For the past 15 years, I’ve focused on capturing the beauty of women of all ages, highlighting their unique charm and the magic of “frozen” moments with light and shadows in every shot.

As I gained more experience, bigger and more serious projects started coming my way. I embraced each one with passion, from intimate one-on-one photo sessions to large-scale campaigns for major brands.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’d say it felt natural for me, as photography started as a hobby rather than just a way to make money. I was genuinely enthusiastic about every new photoshoot, no matter what it involved.

Throughout my career, one of the most rewarding parts has been meeting new people who share my passion for creativity. Each collaboration has brought something unique to the table—whether it’s working with stylists who see details I’d never notice, makeup artists who transform a vision into reality, or models who bring their own energy and flair to a shoot.

Every project feels like a new adventure. Some start as casual connections that blossom into long-term partnerships, while others are one-time collaborations that leave a lasting impact. I love how each person contributes their own perspective, making every photoshoot a true team effort.

These experiences have not only expanded my skills but have also introduced me to incredible individuals I’m lucky to call colleagues—and sometimes, even friends. It’s a constant reminder of how collaborative this industry really is, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve been a photographer for years, and honestly, it all started from pure curiosity and passion. I focus on fashion, editorial, fine art, and portraits—basically anything that lets me play with light and shadows to create something beautiful. My work has been featured in magazines like Vogue and Playboy, and I’ve had the chance to collaborate with some amazing brands and people around the world.

What I’m most proud of is the variety of projects I’ve done—magazine covers, campaigns for big brands, and even personal portfolios. Each shoot is a new challenge, and I love bringing ideas to life.

What makes my approach different? Well, I taught myself everything from scratch—no formal training, just experimenting and figuring things out as I went. I think that gave me a unique style and perspective. Plus, I’m involved in every step of the process, from brainstorming concepts to retouching the final images. It’s not just a job for me—it’s something I genuinely love doing.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The photography industry is changing fast, and I think the next 5–10 years will be all about blending tech and creativity. AI tools are already making editing quicker, and I can see them taking over more tasks—but the human touch will still be key for storytelling.

People are craving real, authentic images now, not just polished perfection, so I think capturing raw, honest moments will become even more important. Plus, with AR, VR, and mobile photography evolving, there’s so much room to experiment with how we create and experience visuals.

For me, it’s exciting—these changes push us to stay creative and adapt, and I can’t wait to see where it all leads.
