Today we’d like to introduce you to Olga And Maria.
Hi Olga and Maria, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We started Casa Medina Design Studio from a very natural place—growing up around construction, development, and design, we were always exposed to how spaces come together, not just visually, but structurally and operationally. Over time, that evolved into a deeper curiosity: not just how things are built, but how they feel, how they function, and how people experience them.
As sisters, we bring two complementary perspectives into the studio—one rooted in design vision and storytelling, and the other in execution, construction, and project management. That combination became the foundation of Casa Medina: a studio that doesn’t just design beautiful spaces, but ensures they are built with intention, clarity, and precision.
We officially launched the studio in Miami, focusing on hospitality and residential projects, where we saw an opportunity to bridge a gap in the industry. Many projects either leaned heavily into aesthetics without fully resolving execution, or prioritized construction without a cohesive vision. We built Casa Medina to integrate both—offering a full-service approach that takes a project from concept through completion.
Our work is driven by a belief that design is not about trends, but about creating environments that feel timeless, layered, and deeply connected to how people live, gather, and interact. Whether we’re working on a restaurant, a private home, or a commercial space, we approach each project as a complete ecosystem—where architecture, materials, lighting, and flow all work together.
Today, our studio operates across Miami and internationally, collaborating with clients, developers, and operators who value thoughtful design and a seamless process. As we continue to grow, our focus remains the same: creating spaces that are not only visually compelling, but meaningful, functional, and built to last.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, and a lot of our growth has come from that.
In the beginning, I felt the pressure of wanting everything to be perfect—every detail, every decision—while also navigating the realities of timelines, teams, and the many moving parts behind each project. Over time, we didn’t let go of that standard—we learned how to achieve it in a more structured, sustainable way, without the same level of stress.
At the same time, our work naturally involves a lot of complexity—design, construction, vendors, and coordination—and maintaining a clear standard across all of those layers requires constant discipline and clarity.
A big part of that growth has also been learning how to communicate better with clients—aligning expectations early, being extremely transparent throughout the process, and creating a structure that supports everyone involved.
We also had to grow into setting boundaries—with clients, with expectations, and within ourselves. That wasn’t always natural, but it’s what allows us to consistently deliver at the level we expect.
Looking back, those challenges shaped how we lead and how we operate as a studio. They pushed us to become more intentional, more structured, and more focused on delivering work that holds its integrity all the way through.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Casa Medina Design Studio is a Miami-based, full-service interior design and design-build studio working across hospitality, residential, and commercial projects.
What sets us apart is our fully integrated approach. We lead design, construction coordination, and procurement under one vision—sourcing internationally from Italy and Brazil while also producing custom pieces through our own manufacturing in Ecuador for both residential and commercial applications.
This creates a seamless, vertically integrated process where design, sourcing, fabrication, and execution are all aligned—allowing us to maintain a high level of control and consistency throughout.
We also work closely with a network of strategic partners across sectors—from stone and millwork to fixtures and specialized fabrication—allowing us to execute at a level of detail and consistency that’s difficult to achieve in a fragmented process.
Our work focuses on creating spaces that are intentional, layered, and timeless, with a strong emphasis on materiality, lighting, and spatial experience. We’re known for bringing clarity and structure to complex projects, ensuring transparency, alignment, and a final result that holds its integrity from concept through completion.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
One of the most important lessons has been learning how to lead a project—not just design it.
That includes setting clear boundaries. Clients hire us for our perspective and expertise, and when that line gets blurred, it doesn’t improve the outcome—it creates confusion and unnecessary friction.
We’ve learned that clarity, transparency, and strong direction are what actually protect the work. That balance between listening and leading is what builds trust and allows a project to come together at the level it should.
