Meet Nik Salazar of Bogota/Colombia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nik Salazar

Hi Nik, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I´m a Colombian singer/songwriter and recording artist.
I started writing my first songs at the age of 11

I studied Music/Music Production at “Universidad de Los Andes” in Bogota, Colombia and also at “Musicians Institute” in Los Angeles.

Some of the recognitions I´ve had are:

2nd place in the global contest “Supersong” (organized by Sony Music and Ricky Martin for the 2014 World Cup) with my song “We Are One” (2014)
Finalist in the “Unsigned Music Only” Competition with my song “All Yours” (2016)
Finalist in the “International Songwriting Competition” with my song “Éxtais” (2016)
Finalist in the “International Songwriting Competition” with my song “Tuparamí” (2020)
Finalist in the “International Songwriting Competition” with my song “Ardíamos” (2023)
Winner at the Premios Estela (Guatemala) in the Best Male Pop Song Category with my song “No Me Cambio Por Nadie Más” (2024)

Recently i opened the tour for Juan Fernando Velasco in different cities of Colombia.

I´ve worked with different songwriters and producers such as Samo (Camila), The Rude Boyz, Slow Mike and Mauricio Rengifo (Despacito).

Right now I am currently working on my next album which will come out early 2025.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn´t been a smooth road at all.
I´ve struggled with a lot of rejection from the industry, many people promise you big things and you get excited and then they just disappear; it happens a lot, way more than what your frustration threshold can handle.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I´m a pop artist, and I always like to experiment with new sounds. I like to write about personal stuff but also about life, society and us as human beings, but what I most enjoy about making music, is the capability it gives you to inspire other people, like my song “No Me Cambio Por Nadie Más”, I wanted to make a self love anthem against bullying, ´cause I grew up being bullied, and it touched many people.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I learned to adapt myself to change, and also, that without health there´s nothing.
