Meet Nicole Bronson of Historic Overtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Bronson.

Hi Nicole, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey with Anointed Florist & Gift Shop, LLC began at a very young age. I entered the floral industry at just 12 years old, where I discovered my passion for creativity and the joy that comes from bringing beauty into people’s lives through flowers and thoughtful gifts. Being exposed to the industry so early allowed me to develop my skills and truly understand the impact of floral design long before I started my own business.

Sixteen years ago, I took a leap of faith and used my last $100 to officially create Anointed Florist & Gift Shop, LLC. I didn’t have much, but I had vision, determination, and a deep belief in what I was building. In the early stages, I focused on perfecting my craft while learning the business side, often facing challenges but never losing sight of my purpose.

Through consistency, resilience, and faith, I was able to grow the business and build a loyal customer base that values not only the quality of my work but also the personal care behind each arrangement. Over time, Anointed Florist & Gift Shop, LLC has evolved into more than just a business—it’s a brand centered on creating meaningful experiences, celebrating life’s special moments, and providing comfort during difficult times.

Today, I continue to nurture and expand the business with the same passion that started it all. My journey is a testament to what can happen when you combine purpose, perseverance, and faith—even starting with just $100.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve faced my share of challenges, especially in the early years of building the business while still learning the ins and outs of entrepreneurship.

One of my biggest challenges was balancing it all—growing Anointed Florist & Gift Shop, LLC while raising my family. I was not only raising my four biological children, but also caring for four additional children, all while trying to build something meaningful from the ground up. At the same time, keeping my community engaged has always been a priority for me, which added another layer of responsibility but also purpose to everything I do.

There were moments of uncertainty, financial strain, and times when I had to learn business lessons the hard way. I was building the business as I was learning, which meant making mistakes, adjusting, and continuing to push forward no matter what.

Despite the challenges, I’m incredibly proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish both personally and professionally. All eight children are high school graduates, some went on to pursue college, and my youngest son has earned his bachelor’s degree and is currently halfway through his master’s program. That, along with growing a successful business and staying connected to my community, is something I truly cherish.

The journey hasn’t been easy, but every obstacle helped shape me, strengthen my resilience, and deepen my purpose.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At Anointed Florist & Gift Shop, LLC, I specialize in creating custom floral designs and curated gift experiences for all of life’s moments—from weddings and celebrations to sympathy arrangements and everyday expressions of love. My work is rooted in creativity, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for making each piece meaningful and personal.

What I’m most known for is my creativity, my personality, and my ability to truly understand my customers. I have a unique gift for feeling my customers’ thoughts and the reasoning behind their order, which allows me to design arrangements that genuinely reflect their emotions and intentions. I also have a strong eye for color coordination and a deep knowledge of flowers—their life, care, and the different shapes and sizes—which helps me create designs that are both beautiful and long-lasting.

I’m especially proud of building this business from the ground up with just $100 while raising eight children and staying actively engaged in my community. Being able to balance entrepreneurship, family, and community impact is something that means a lot to me.

What truly sets me apart is my authenticity, my faith-driven approach, and the personal connection I bring to every order. I don’t just create arrangements—I create experiences that speak for my customers when words aren’t enough. That level of care, understanding, and consistency is what keeps my clients coming back.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My mother gave me to my grandmother at the age of 6 weeks . I use to travel to Cairo , Ga at least 2 to 3 times a year. Once I reached my great grandmother home she would have me to rub oil all of her , she would be just laughing . The holy spirit revealed to me in 2013 that was anointed oil the same one I used on my children from birth until adulthood .
