Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicolas Benavides Jimenez
Hi Nicolas , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have so much story to tell and so many beautiful anecdotes, but here is a little of who I am. I was born and raised in Bogota Colombia, I studied communications, marketing journalism. I started creating lifestyle, foodie and travel content on my social networks, in Colombia, I was invited to events, concerts, restaurants and little by little I began to receive payment for doing what I liked most: taking photos and creating content for social networks For things in life and following my heart, I went to live in Mexico, in Monterrey where I studied a master’s degree in Communications and continued growing in my social networks, especially in different markets, working for brands like Walmart, Mexico, Gillett, Ultra , among others, simply generating content for these brands through my social networks, I created a song called Instasong Challenge that I had on Spotify but it was not what I expected, however, I was left with the experience of having a song that I wrote and produced by myself. Then I returned to Colombia to live again, but once again and I think that by fate I ended up in the USA, following love… I arrived in Dallas Texas, and tried to start with my theme of modeling and influencer, present some castings in Rhode Island modeling for a catwalk, in Dallas I worked creating content and being a model for some brands such as SmoothieKing, parking spot official, a hospital in Frisco Texas, Texas Latino Pride among others. After that and having been in the USA for 3 and a half years, all the time in Dallas I wanted a change and to feel free living near the beach so I ended up moving to Florida, I have been there for 5 months, trying to position myself as a brand and be able to continue growing more in social networks, professionally and personally.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been an easy path. The language barrier, the experience barrier, competing with many local people of different nationalities, the issue of being an immigrant makes the path not easy and there are obstacles, so many closed doors waiting for many more to open.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I work in Marketing in the hospitality, I am proud to be able to work in my profession, in what I studied in Colombia and that I can perform in it, I have been to events in Miami, I have been activating myself as an influencer, as a model. What I am most proud of is having come so far and being able to have visited more than 15 countries in the world, trying to reach more corners, meeting people and making new friends, which is what I call my followers.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I have appeared in several magazine articles, newspapers and mentions that show that I have supported different causes as an influencer.
