Nia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Several years ago, I was diagnosed with Bacterial Vaginosis (BV), the most common form of vaginitis that women of childbearing age experience. Up until this point in my life I had never heard of BV before, even as a registered nurse. I was treated numerous times for this condition and would suffer from yeast infections and UTIs subsequently as a result of wiping out my healthy vaginal flora.
I started to feel discouraged because I didn’t understand why the antibiotics weren’t working for me after I had done everything the way my healthcare provider had told me to. I scheduled a follow-up appointment with my OB/GYN where I was informed that BV is difficult to treat. I was baffled, to say the least. My vaginal eco-system and personal life were turned upside down. By this point, my significant other Brandon and I were willing to try any solution to solve this problem.
We spent hundreds of dollars on empty solutions from feminine washes, boric acid capsules, hydrogen peroxide, to holistic supplements, mainstream probiotics, and apple cider vinegar. When nothing worked or only offered short-term remedies, I incessantly searched for answers to my problems, relying on my nursing skills to find evidence-based research studies on women like me.
Bit by bit, and piece by piece I discovered the components in pHembiotics and I began to use them on myself and recommending them to others who shared similar experiences.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Formulating and realizing the vision of pHembiotics has not been easy. The amount of time and research that went into the formulating process of our products took years. We had to make sure we put out a product that was effective, so there was a lot that went into that. Also, of course, the financial resources were a setback. We have so many more solutions we’d like to bring forth but still lack the resources to do so. This lack of funding also has impeded our ability to market our products. We are a debt-free business and utilize our profits to invest back into our company.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about pHembiotics – what should we know?
Currently, I am a Registered Nurse working in the field of Labor & Delivery. I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from South University and also obtained a Bachelor of Science from the Pennsylvania State University in Biobehavioral Health and a minor in Global Health. I am also working towards a Master’s degree in Family Nurse Practitioner and Doctoral Degree in Nursing Practice at the Florida Atlantic University.
I am most proud of my brand, and it’s unique qualities. We are the only pH balance company on the market that is naturally based and not focused on menstrual care products. We are really seeking to provide answers to problems and not just a cover-up for the symptoms. What sets me apart from others is my passion for women’s health and genuine desire to help women suffering from pH imbalances like myself.
What’s your outlook for the industry over the next 5-10 years?
Natural Health has become and is still becoming a huge industry and is projected to grow exponentially over the next few years. I see pHembiotics becoming a key player in the natural health industry as people return to holistic medicine. Even as a medical professional, a lot has changed in our industry to focus on natural and holistic remedies for healing. Consumers are becoming more conscious of the things they put into their bodies, have the internet available at their fingertips and are becoming greater advocates for their own health. These changes are really going to nudge healthcare professionals to make transformative changes.
