Meet Nelson Garcia of RARE CRE in Dadeland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nelson Garcia.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Nelson. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Studied finance at FIU while working as a contractor for the US Coast Guard. Shortly after graduating I interned and became a full-time employee at a boutique investment bank in Miami which I worked at for 3 years. I transitioned into the real estate private equity division of the company and led the acquisition and development of several commercial real estate projects in South Florida.

Later I started an independent consulting company and since I have been involved in the acquisition, development and/or financing of over 2 million sq. ft. of commercial, multifamily and hospitality projects. Somewhere in between I also co-founded a startup which acquired wireless rights and developed and operated community Wi-Fi networks in the Caribbean.

We founded RARE CRE in January 2017, a boutique commercial real estate company focused on investment sales and capital advisory. I currently head the capital markets platform, in charge of raising and structuring debt and equity finance for commercial real estate projects.

Has it been a smooth road?
Not at all. Lots of failed deals (many in the 11th hour). A couple of failed business ventures. Definitely a roller coaster, as is customary for most entrepreneurs.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
RARE CRE is a Florida-based boutique commercial real estate company that provides Investment Sales and Capital Advisory services to property owners, investors, and developers in the Southeast U.S. We advise our clients on property sales, acquisitions as well as in structuring and raising debt and equity capital for their commercial real estate project.

We cater to the Commercial Real Estate Entrepreneur. Our clients vary in size and experience yet share the same entrepreneurial spirit we do and choose to work with skilled and like-minded advisors.

We pride ourselves in having all of the capabilities of a powerhouse national brokerage firm yet able to deliver personalized ‘white glove’ service and creative solutions that are unmatched in the industry.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes. To anyone starting out I would recommend choosing the right industry. Certain industries do have limited opportunities in South Florida (e.g. finance and tech) but that is rapidly changing.
