Meet Natalia Restrepo Duque

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalia Restrepo Duque.

Hi Natalia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I graduated college with a psychology major in 2020 and since the pandemic was starting, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to find a job. I got a 5 months job with a foundation that was doing a local project with the town hall where I had the opportunity to help young and vulnerable teenage mothers to prevent subsequent pregnancies giving them talks about the importance of their sexual and reproductive health.

Months later, my closest family members and friends encouraged me to start my instagram page as a psychologist and I noticed that what people were most interested in was in relationship issues. That’s when I decided to start my postgraduate degree (online) on sexual and couples therapy with Universidad de Barcelona. I got my degree and started to attend patients and I’ve been doing it since then.

Currently, I’m also going through a certification in treating affairs and traumas with the Gottman Institute.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course, there were some struggles along the way. My plan was to go study somewhere else but the pandemic made it impossible so I decided to do it online. It was good but I wanted the experience of studying abroad.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in couples therapy and everything about relationships. I help people going through breakups, divorces, emotional dependence, low self-esteem, etc.

What I love about my work is that I really love to help people; I love to see how they grow emotionally and mentally, how they learn different ways to cope with their issues, and how they change the way they see those situations (in a better way).

I use instagram as an effective way to communicate directly with people, share real-life experiences from people I know so that we can all relate to them, and use it as a way to help our own process.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see myself helping people from all around the world, doing conferences in different places. I would like to share different tools in my web page so that more people can reach my help and feel better.
