So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Born and raised in Miami, Fl, I quickly ventured off to Tallahassee, Fl in my adult years. This stage in my life would determine my worth and strength as an individual.
Through my studies as an English major with a focus in writing and rhetoric and working for the state, I maintained a sufficient lifestyle for myself and son. Always being open to different cultural backgrounds is what contributed to my creativity. Nothing seemed impossible nor far-fetched.
My very first time trying a strawberry cheesecake from my roommate tested and proved that. Little did I know this would take on a world of its own. I quickly tweaked the recipe to my own liking and had it at every gathering and social you could think of.
After a recommendation from a friend that the world needed to taste the cheesecakes, I took on the challenge traveling to every major and little city in Florida selling my delightful treats.
After a continuous amount of great reviews and tremendous support, I decided to turn my love for baking full time in hopes that all of America will eventually get to taste the great savory homemade cheesecakes with endless flavors. The beginning is the possibility of shipment everywhere and an updated bio with the company’s success!
Has it been a smooth road?
Its almost always never a smooth road, but the amount of time and vision put in this dream is what keeps me going. I am grateful for every challenge and major hit as this is what normally shapes my company for the better. I get to come back better and stronger every time. I’ve always felt as though challenges are meant to be defeated, or they wouldn’t serve a purpose.
One of the many continuous struggles will always be marketing and being able to attract the right type of audience. It’s one thing to gain their attention but its another challenge to keep it. Challenge comes in every aspect, from satisfying everyone needs to knowing when to step back and allowing yourself time to process things.
Ultimately you get over that hump in the road and you are given enough time to prepare yourself for the next hump, if you play your cards right of course! Overall the struggles have been and will always be worth the ride.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Sweet Delight Cheesecakes story. Tell us more about the business.
Sweet Delight Cheesecakes is a bakery specializing only in a variety of cheesecake products with ten permanent flavors and a featured flavor every month. Cheesecakes can be ordered in a jar, whole pie, mini pie, cookie sandwich, bite-size and jars with toppings that complement its flavors. This will be the first storefront to offer just cheesecakes, different from any and every cake/cupcake storefront. Creativity on every level and endless flavors when it comes to the cheesecake world.
What I am most proud of from my company is taking a certain percentage from daily sales to create the nonprofit organization “Precious Women of Tomorrow” that would financially assist, educate and bring awareness to women who have been diagnosed with ovarian, cervix, and breast cancer as well as other health issues women face daily. This is in honor of a beloved close friend of mine by the name of Precious that passed away from complications of ovarian cancer.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the next couple of years, I see my industry being franchised all across the world, as well as being able to assist and educate every woman in need. My company will provide others the drive, and necessary needs to achieve their dreams as well as accomplish them. My company will also show that creativity still exists and something new is always refreshing and needed.
