Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadia Alcide.
Nadia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It was all a dream, we got started in the mortgage industry over 20 years ago. I’m part of a mother-daughter duo where entrepreneurial ventures have always been in the blood. All throughout my life, I’ve always worked in the family business. It was the key to wealth and the ability to provide jobs to give back. I learned how to run an office with ease by the age of 14. While this way of life was instilled in me, my true entrepreneurial journey got started after I graduated from the University of Florida with my MSE (Masters of Science in Entrepreneurship). I was able to learn the importance of systems, project management, valuation, and how to scale your business. I loved it so much, I started an operations management firm out of school where I took on high powered clients in the legal, entertainment, and investment space. I truly cut my teeth with the best of the best.
Being a mortgage professional came up often while running my ops business. My mother saw how quick and dynamic I was with technology and asked me to join the team to help with growth and impact. Obviously, I obliged. Since joining as a partner in Mortgage Biz of Florida we have worked with many families, individuals & investors to fulfill their real estate goals. Our belief is everyone deserves to own real estate if they so choose. It’s our goal to make the home buying process as drama-free as possible!
In my personal time, I enjoy spending time with my husband (college sweetheart) & our daughter. Currently working on something amazing with another professional, peep the previews in the photos!
Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth…what’s that? Heck no!! Can I be honest and just say, everyone has a struggle at some point in their life. It is all relative to their tolerance and environment. I had an amazing childhood and didn’t want for anything. However, my greatest struggle stemmed from my health.
In 2014, I was about a year into my marriage and we were thinking about adding to the family, I went to the doctor and after her exam, I was told I couldn’t have a baby due to non-cancerous tumors blocking talk about devastating. Well, I’m a believer in holistic alternatives to traditional methods. Long story short, I was able to get pregnant! Initially, pregnancy was smooth until I hit the 4th month. I started experiencing extreme pain, really inexplicable pain. I was confined to the bed and was unable to grow my business, I had to learn the hard way to be patient and sit it out. It was difficult to come to terms. However, I faithfully believed I would be a mother, In December 2015, I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.
Remember that tumor? Well, they never removed it. I had to go back in 2017 to remove it. I had the best doctors who spent eight long hours removing a tumor weighing nine lbs. Yep! Again, I had to sit it out and recover for a number of weeks. All of this really taught me how to care for my body better and rest. When something is meant for you, it is meant for you!
Please tell us about your business.
Mortgage Biz of Florida is an independent brokerage run by amazing women. We are responsible for helping our clients obtain financing for refinancing or purchasing a home or investment property (residential and commercial). We can offer products to help with most situations. We are most proud that this is a family business that is able to help other people build their legacies.
My role is to get to know my client’s goals well enough to be able to place them with the means to get there. I work with clients from all walks of life. My claim to fame is my patience, straight forward communication, and the ability to get it done!
I’m different in the way I conduct my business. If we aren’t coming up with solutions to issues that may crop up because they will, there is no sense in making it a big drama. I’m proud to remain collected in stressful situations.
Additionally, I’m OBSESSED with technology. It helps to make my originating and communication activities way easier. I proactively set up internal systems to ensure smoother rides on the road to real estate ownership for my clients.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The real estate industry is very cyclical. With rates so low right now, many are refinancing or purchasing. We will continue to see many live/play/work/entertainment environments popping up. Brooklyn has become a great example. People are looking for more walk ability, it helps the suburbs to provide that city type feel with millennials having kids, this will be a happy medium.
