Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadezhda Pavlova.
Every creative professional has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I am a triathlete and my brand was born after I realized I could not find cycling and triathlon gear that I wanted to wear on my training and racing days. Most existing triathlon garments looked too boring, serious, or masculine. Even though triathlon is not a very feminine sport, I still wanted to look and feel sexy and chic in my outfit! I wanted to create an amazing new category of cycling gear–girly, super functional, and fashionable. What I couldn’t find I designed myself and thus began my first collection. Second only to my love of sport is my love of design, and bringing these two passions together enabled me to create the DS PRO brand. It’s been an exciting process to bring my design aesthetic to the triathlon world.
Please tell us about your work.
I focus on designing clothes to empower women in different sports. Currently, we have a cycling collection. Soon we will be launching swimming and gym wear. I believe looking good in the gym and on the road matters. It’s all about confidence and empowering yourself; if you look good, you’ll feel good and you’ll push yourself and perform better.
My muse is a strong, uninhibited girl, unapologetically feminine, who wants her sportswear to reflect her personality. I think I’m most creative when I’m cycling/running/swimming–I usually come up with the best ideas during training. I quickly sketch into my phone after I’ve finished my workout and email my sketches to my design team to start working. Sports give me an inspiration to create, and new clothing gives me motivation to work out. It’s like a vicious circle.
DS PRO is a high-performance product that maintains a feminine edge, beautiful prints, and exceptional quality, making training fun and more enjoyable! I use a cute color palette in my collections, floral eye-catching prints, flattering cuts, and sleek designs. I want my customers to feel that they have bought something that is creative and unique. I want them to feel special and beautiful.
Do you have any advice for other creatives? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
Follow your dreams and do everything with passion. Nothing great has ever been achieved without enthusiasm. Passion is the thing that will help you create the highest expression of your talent!
