Today we’d like to introduce you to Moody Amarante.
Moody Amarante was born and raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts but eventually moved to Miami, FL. A graduate in Film from Full Sail University, Moody began her career as an editor various networks such as Fox, E! Style Network and MTV. Eventually winning a Daytime Emmy Award as part of the production team on “Cristina’s Court.” She also worked as a Latin American Coordinator for WWE’s programming distribution division. Eventually venturing into production coordination and producing for various feature films and television programs. In 2018, Moody founded FireDoor Entertainment with Juan Rutz. They currently produce and direct a vast array of commercials, films, television episodes, and music videos. Some of their clients include Flo Rida and Pitbull as well as upcoming artists from Flo Rida’s music label IMG STRONGARM. They also have two TV shows completed that is being pitched to networks. Sometimes, you can catch her talking about the latest in pop culture news on TMZ Live!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
2018 was a rough year. I took a leap of faith and left my position as a Pro Video Sales Manager and decided to venture into my own company. In the beginning, Juan and I had one client in our first month. We weren’t even sure how we were going to pay our rent, but with patience, persistence and several follow up calls, we eventually started gaining a clientele that is still growing. We are thankfully so busy, we’ve had to hire more staff.
FireDoor Entertainment – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I believe what I am most proud of at FireDoor is our imagination and faith. We pray before each meeting and have often come up with such amazing ideas off the cuff to try and make a commercial or music video even more exciting. What sets us apart from other companies is the team. We have an amazing team of people that excel in each individual aspect of filmmaking. Juan Rutz is the opener. He is the one that calls people, sets meetings, follows up with people. Joanne Flovella is a creative writing force to be reckoned with. Very detailed, organized and loves to write and create stories. Lionel Fernandez is a visual genius. His creativity when it comes to being a Director of Photography is amazing. Whenever we are on set, we can all go off and take charge of our respective areas and it always flows together perfectly. I lead the ship by directing and being an overall production coordinator. Best part is that when we are on set, we are all extremely professional but off-set, we all enjoy hanging out together. It’s a beautiful thing, to work and play with people you genuinely respect and admire.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
There is no exact definition of success because it truly is in the eye of the beholder. Success to me personally is waking up every day and being surrounded by people I love doing what I love to do and being able to provide for myself. I never dread “Going to Work.” Every day is a blessing, so in a sense, I’m already successful. A Primetime Emmy would be nice though… 😀
