Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Del Valle.
Monica, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a wife and mother to two healthy and amazing little girls. For almost 10 years, I have worked alongside my husband who is an incredible physician in Miami. I became certified in nutrition and wellness consulting and a life & health coach because I saw how important lifestyle education was in our office practice. Our weight loss practice was my baby until I began having babies of my own, then a small hiatus was in order. Eager to finally come back to work, with so many great ideas to help patients moving forward with @delvallewellness. Life threw me a huge curveball in May 2017 when my parents were both diagnosed with cancer in the same week. My father was diagnosed with stage 4 renal cancer and my mother and best friend was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic pancreatic cancer. This beautiful woman who lived with us, helped me take care of my daughters and my home was gone in only five months. Although I have experience helping patients heal their bodies through lifestyle change and nutrition, I’m now motivated by helping others heal a broken heart. Almost two years have passed, and every day I’m still learning how to manage my feelings. I can wake up and choose to be angry and upset that my mom is no longer here. I can also choose to wake up and be grateful I had such a magical mom who was a shining example of unconditional love. This is all dedicated to her because I choose to “make lemonade anyway.”
Make lemonade anyway now has an e-shop (www.makelemonadeanyway.com) where you can purchase items that have been handmade & hand-selected to help sweeten your day and life! Enjoying these items should serve as a reminder to stay positive & make the most of life, wearable intention-of sorts. Each item that I’ve chosen to feature holds special meaning to me. For example, the color teal was my mom’s favorite color, she lived her life practicing gratitude and rainbows remind me of a promise of a new tomorrow. As an added sweetener, a portion of the monthly proceeds will go towards pancreatic cancer research through the page that I’ve set up for my mom. 100% of anything donated to pancan goes towards pancreatic cancer research. I hope I can inspire you to choose a lifestyle filled with health and love despite all the bitter moments in between. Life is too sweet to be bitter!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Once I launched Make Lemonade Anyway, I have been so overwhelmed by the support and love I’ve received from friends and even more so from strangers. Sharing my story has been a healing experience for me and for others. I can sincerely say it’s been a smooth road and I’m excited about the future.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Make Lemonade Anyway story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a Certified Nutrition and Wellness Consultant, Health Coach and a Certified Holistic Health Practitioner. I have been helping patients achieve their wellness goals for over 10 years. I became passionate about wellness and disease prevention while working with my husband who is an Internal Medicine and Geriatric Physician. I definitely specialize in physician-assisted weight loss. It is extremely gratifying to see patients lose weight and feel confident. I’m so proud of the company my husband and I created: Del Valle wellness. I think what sets us apart is that we work as a team and I am usually the one seeing the patients. I offer a very “nonjudgemental” approach and always share my struggle with choosing to practice a healthy lifestyle. I also focus on offering positive solutions to life’s difficult situations. I believe patients self-destruct when they are facing adversity. I like to offer patients tools to help deal with issues that may lead to negative behavior patterns. I advocate the power of fulfillment by practicing gratitude, positive thinking, and visualization techniques to achieve a happier and more balanced life. Del Valle Wellness will always be my baby but I’m enjoying my new endeavor of Make Lemonade Anyway. At the end of the day, both of my companies focus on helping other’s life, a sweeter and better life.
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you were just starting out?
I wouldn’t change a thing.
