Today we’d like to introduce you to Mislav Buntic.
Hi Mislav, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Before starting Clean My Mess, I worked as a Project Manager on construction sites in Miami. During that time, I noticed there was a lack of reliable cleaning companies and a real opportunity in the industry.
I didn’t start with large projects. I started by cleaning balconies and windows, charging around $60 per balcony, which was well below the market rate at the time. Many people probably thought it wasn’t worth it, but I had a different perspective. I knew that if I did a great job and built trust, those same clients would eventually need other services, whether it was interior cleaning, move out cleaning, post construction cleaning, or recurring maintenance.
That strategy worked. One client led to another, and over time referrals started coming in. I focused on building relationships, delivering quality work, and always being available when clients needed help.
What started with balconies and windows eventually grew into Clean My Mess, a company that now provides residential, commercial, apartment, and post construction cleaning services throughout South Florida. Looking back, the biggest lesson was that every opportunity matters, no matter how small it seems at the beginning.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it definitely wasn’t a smooth road.
One of the biggest challenges in the beginning was simply surviving while trying to grow the business. Cleaning balconies for $60 each wasn’t enough to live on, so I was working multiple jobs at the same time just to pay the bills while investing everything I could back into the company.
There were many long days where I would work one job, then go clean in the evenings or on weekends. Building a business takes time, and there were moments when it felt like growth was happening slower than I wanted. But I believed in the long term vision and kept going.
Every stage of growth brought a different set of obstacles.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Clean My Mess Cleaning Service?
Clean My Mess is a full service cleaning company serving South Florida. We provide residential cleaning, deep cleaning, move in/move out cleaning, apartment cleaning, professional window cleaning, commercial cleaning, and post construction cleaning services.
What makes us different is our hospitality mindset. Many of our team members come from hotel and hospitality backgrounds, where attention to detail is everything. Our staff is trained not only to clean thoroughly but also to create an experience for the client. Small touches such as neatly folded towels, decorative towel art, properly presented toilet paper, organized spaces, and attention to details that most people overlook are part of our standard.
We also wanted our brand to feel different. The name Clean My Mess was chosen intentionally. The reality is that cleaning professionals sometimes deal with very messy situations, unexpected challenges, and spaces that people may feel embarrassed about. From day one, I wanted the experience to feel approachable, relaxed, and even a little fun.
The truth is that everyone gets busy, life happens, and sometimes people simply need help. There is no judgment from us. Whether it’s a home that has gotten out of control during a stressful period, a move out situation, a construction site, or a property that just needs extra attention, our job is to help, not to judge.
I’m especially proud of the trust we’ve earned from our clients. We started small, cleaning balconies and windows, and grew through referrals, hard work, and consistently delivering quality results. Many of our clients have been with us for years and continue recommending us to friends, family, and colleagues.
At the end of the day, our goal is simple: provide exceptional cleaning while making the entire experience easy, comfortable, and stress free. We want clients to feel confident calling us, no matter what kind of mess they need help with.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I think the cleaning industry will continue to grow significantly over the next 5 to 10 years. Years ago, many people worked 8 hour days. Today, it’s becoming more common for people to work 12, 15, or even 20 hours a day, especially business owners, professionals, and families trying to keep up with rising costs and busy schedules.
The reality is that there are only so many hours in a day. When people are spending more time working, they naturally have less time to clean, organize, and maintain their homes. Most people would rather spend their limited free time with their families, resting, exercising, or doing things they enjoy.
Because of that, I believe professional cleaning services are becoming a necessity rather than a luxury. As people’s schedules become more demanding, cleaning companies help fill a need that many households simply cannot keep up with on their own.
I don’t see that trend slowing down anytime soon. If anything, people are getting busier every year, which means the demand for reliable, professional cleaning services will continue to grow.
