Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Growing up as a little girl in Jamaica, I had the honor of watching my mother and grandmother use their creativity to build successful businesses in the fashion industry. Seeing them achieve their goals by doing what they loved inspired me to pursue my own passions.
Before Rock’N Tiara, I was busy working in the financial sector. So much so that I was missing a lot of important events for my kids, picking them up late from school, and feeling overall burnt out. This made me realize my desire to start my own business that would allow me the flexibility to be a better wife and mom, while also creating a better life for my family.
In 2019, I took my daughter to a spa party for friends and realized the staff hadn’t been trained to know how to handle my daughter’s hair type. It hit me that there needed to be better representation in this field for girls of all backgrounds to feel welcome and appreciated.
As we began dreaming up our own spa for kids, my children were once again an inspiration as they shared with me that they’d like to have other options besides just becoming a princess. We want little girls to be able to feel excited about the potential to be rock stars, scientists, and more during their time with us. The name Rock’N Tiaras was born there.
We have created packages and wardrobe options for girls to be whatever they can dream up! From leather jackets and sequins for the rockstars to science experiments for those who love steam, and even feather boas for the girls who love to feel fancy. Everything we have built has been with the intent to make young girls feel celebrated for who they are and what they love.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When we opened our business in 2019, we clearly had no idea what was about to hit the world the following year. While we feared our business would be closed forever due to lockdowns and social distancing, we decided to take a more proactive approach and get creative with our offerings.
Since many people were uncomfortable coming into the Rock’N Tiaras spa, we decided to begin offering mobile spa and teepee slumber party packages to come to them. We also changed our in-person experience to make sure everyone felt at ease while being pampered.
This not only saved our business from becoming another victim of the pandemic, we actually discovered people wanted these options to continue. We’re incredibly grateful for those who showed support to our small business during those tough times.
As you know, we’re big fans of Rock’N Tiara Kids Spa. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Rock’N Tiaras is a Kid’s Spa and Party Boutique offering luxury services to kids from toddlers to teens. We provide amazing celebrations they won’t forget.
Our options currently include Slime Parties, Paint Parties, Glow Paint Parties, Glow Slime Parties, Tea Parties, Science Parties, Teepee & Slumber Parties, Mobile Spa Parties, and Day Spa Services. Our incredible Glam Squad professionals allow parents in Coral Springs and surrounding cities the opportunity to book a party that is completely taken care of for them. Everything from setup, party time, and clean-up is all done by our Rock’N Glam Team and Party Hostesses.
Our in-house events and services have been a big hit from the beginning. However, it’s our mobile spa events that really stand out from the crowd. Our Teepee & Slumber Parties are a unique experience in which we set up the slumber party scene in a client’s home or hotel and then come back the next day to pick it up. It really takes the stress off parents and allows them to enjoy their child’s big day!
I’m so excited to be helping kids of all backgrounds to feel special and represented. Our mission is to bring joy to kids and their parents in an easy, fun, and one-of-a-kind way they’ll remember for a lifetime.
What’s next?
We are always looking for new ways to improve and expand our services. Our services are always evolving to match the current trends kids are in. We also want to make sure we are catering to kids of various interests, so exploring new options for party experiences is crucial, as well.
We are also looking into making Rock’N Tiara a franchise opportunity for others. This will allow other entrepreneurs the chance to provide Princesses, Divas, and Rock Stars in other cities and states the same luxury treatments we offer here in Florida.
It is such a joy to think that the small business we created to make sure kids like my own daughters felt welcome and represented is someday going to make an impact in the lives of children all over the country.
