Hi Miranda, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Cuban American Artist, graduated from New World School of the arts college. Working with themes of mythology and selective ornamental detail . Currently working as a commission based artist, exhibiting and selling my work. Focused on creating elaborate and symbolic pieces.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Pursuing art has been difficult, there are definitely those days when it feels quite overwhelming to grasp a hold of things. Yet then again it’s always worthwhile to prioritize the things that matter to us most. To not only focus on the end result but the journey towards it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in mixed media medium based art, likely focusing on the drawing aspect and maintaining a subtle yet ornamental line and attention to selective often overlooked details. Working with elements of mythology, darkness , nature and the beauty of overlooked details. My work involves spiritualism and symbolism as well, taking on that elemental chance and happenstance and the interpretation of meaning towards that very chance.
What matters most to you?
Sacred details and how they are read. Details have always fascinated me as has spirituality and symbolism. They are harmonious and ever present especially in the natural world. Yet they can only be read when they are noticed. I attempt to incorporate that into my work , the very shift of attention into the beauty of often overlooked details and holding them in a sacred mediative stance of sorts.
