Meet Michael Moodie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Moodie.

Hi Michael, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started photography professionally about 9 years ago, but it was a hobby for 10 years. Photography was my healthy way of handling depression as it became my escape from the dark room, I was in.

Through practice, countless hours of YouTube, and the opportunity to shadow some photographers I admired. My interest grew and so did my passion for the craft.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It wasn’t a smooth road but a very enlightening one. With anything you love, speed bumps and obstacles will make their way into your path, but I never allowed them to slow me down.

Some of the struggles I faced when starting photography professionally were networking and learning how to value my work and time. As an introvert, I had to learn how to develop and maintain conversations with individuals who were important to have in my network.

This was probably one of my biggest challenges but overcoming it has given me the opportunity to meet

some amazing people in the creative and professional space.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a published photographer who specializes in Lifestyle and F&B (Food and Beverage) Photography. While my portfolio is pretty diverse, I do enjoy Lifestyle, F&B, and BTS photography the most.

In the creative community, I’m more popularly known for my Lifestyle and F&B photography. Having done work with several well-established restaurants, hotels, and brands both local and international.

What I’m most proud of is definitely my growth and how I’ve developed and continue to develop my skills in photography and creative directing.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to first appreciate your journey but also keep the faith and stay focused on where you want to be. You may not get there when you want to, but you will eventually end up where you need to.
