Meet Merlin Ramirez of Miami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Merlin Ramirez

Hi Merlin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I met a friend (Maria) at a school where we both worked. This school is dedicated to working with children with special needs. We are behavior therapists and share a passion for making a difference. We spent lunch breaks swapping stories about the children we worked with, celebrating small victories, and brainstorming innovative ways to engage the kids.
One day, during an activity at the school, there was a bounce house for the kids. The kids were laughing, playing, and bouncing with pure joy. So I said to my friend Maria “Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could create something like that for all children?“Something fun, but also safe and tailored to their needs?” And my friend supported the idea right away. She said; “You know, I’ve been thinking about starting a business. But what if we do it together? A bounce house party rental business.
The more we talked about it, the more it made sense. We knew how to create safe environments, we understood the sensory sensitivities many of their kids had, and we could ensure that our bounce houses were designed to be inclusive. Plus, we loved the idea of giving children an opportunity to experience pure fun in a way that felt right for them.
That same day we analyzed everything we needed to start and that was the beginning of our business.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We have had some challenges, of course, we spent all our savings on it. So then we did not have money for promotion. We were able to do some business cards and give them around, we also did stickers for our cars, and we had to pay to promote them on social media. And since we didn’t have any money left after doing all those things,I had the idea of giving it to influencers at no cost they they could out on the social media, the hard part is that only a few replied to us.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Merlin: I am finishing my Master’s in Psychology and working full-time as a registered behavior technician.
Maria: Maria is finishing her Associates in Art, and also working as a behavior therapists.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe I have bad luck at all if something does not come how I wanted and just try other ways to achieve it. And if I am in difficult situations that is just part of the journey.
