Meet Medjine Joseph of Miami / South Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Medjine Joseph.

Medjine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story really started during a time when the world slowed down. During COVID, I began learning how to do my own makeup. At first, it was simply something I enjoyed doing for myself, but the more I practiced, the more I fell in love with the artistry behind it. I realized I was actually good at it, too. The people around me started noticing and constantly encouraged me to become a makeup artist. Eventually, I decided to believe in what they were seeing in me and, more importantly, believe in myself.

That decision became the beginning of The Glam Status.

Building a business has been exciting, but it hasn’t always been easy. I’m a wife, a mother of two, a professional, and an entrepreneur, so there have been many moments when I’ve had to balance my dreams with the responsibilities of everyday life. There were times when I questioned myself, felt overwhelmed, or wondered if I was capable of doing it all. But I’ve learned that being strong doesn’t mean you never have those moments—it means you keep showing up despite them.

What started with me teaching myself makeup at home has grown into a brand that allows me to be part of some of the most meaningful moments in other women’s lives, especially through bridal beauty. I’ve had the opportunity to meet incredible people, grow my skills, build relationships, and continue defining what The Glam Status represents.

Today, I’m proud of how far I’ve come, but I also know I’m still building. Motherhood, marriage, my career, and entrepreneurship have all shaped the woman I am today. My journey has taught me that sometimes your purpose begins with something as simple as discovering what you love and having the courage to take yourself seriously.

I didn’t start with everything figured out. I started with a passion, encouragement from the people around me, and a willingness to try. Everything else has been built one step, one client, and one lesson at a time—and I’m excited because I truly believe this is only the beginning.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but I think that’s what has helped me grow the most. One of my biggest challenges in the beginning was networking and finding a genuine community with other makeup artists. This industry can sometimes feel very competitive, and when you’re new, it can be difficult to know where you fit in or who you can turn to for advice and support. Over time, I learned that it’s important to put yourself out there, build genuine relationships, and also be okay with creating your own lane.

Another challenge has been learning how to work with so many different personalities. Makeup is very personal. You’re working closely with someone, sometimes on one of the biggest days of their life, and every client communicates differently and has different expectations. I had to learn how to listen, read the room, communicate clearly, and still remain confident in my expertise. That has honestly made me better, not only as a makeup artist but as a businesswoman.

Every challenge has taught me something. I’ve learned not to compare my journey to anyone else’s, to protect my peace, stay professional, and continue showing up even when things aren’t perfect. I’m still learning and growing, and I think being able to admit that is part of what makes me stronger.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
The Glam Status is all about making women feel beautiful, confident, and like the best version of themselves. I specialize in soft glam, full glam, and bridal makeup, but bridal has definitely become one of the areas I’m most passionate about. There’s something special about being trusted to be part of such an important day in someone’s life.

I would say I’m known for creating polished, flawless looks that still allow my clients to look and feel like themselves. I never want someone to sit in my chair and feel like they have to become a completely different person to feel beautiful. I take the time to understand what each client wants, their comfort level, their features, and the overall look they’re going for.

What I’m most proud of is the trust I’ve been able to build with my clients. When someone comes back to me for another birthday, event, photoshoot, or recommends me to someone they love, that means a lot to me. With bridal clients especially, they’re trusting me with a moment they’ll remember and see in pictures for the rest of their lives. I don’t take that lightly.

I think what sets me apart is the overall experience. Of course, I want the makeup to be beautiful, but I also want my clients to enjoy being in my chair. I’m a people person, so I genuinely enjoy connecting with my clients, making them comfortable, laughing with them, and creating an environment where they can relax and just enjoy their moment.

The Glam Status started because I fell in love with makeup, but it has grown into something much bigger for me. It’s about confidence, connection, and reminding women that sometimes it’s okay to take a moment for yourself, get glammed up, and feel amazing.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something that might surprise people is that I’m actually very shy and naturally an introvert. I think because of the beauty industry and how social my work can be, people automatically assume I’m extremely outgoing, but that’s not always the case.

Doing makeup has actually helped bring me out of my shell. When you’re servicing clients, you’re meeting new people, having conversations, building relationships, and sometimes spending hours with someone you just met. Over time, it has pushed me to become more comfortable opening up and connecting with people.

I’m still an introvert at heart, but I love that this business continues to challenge me personally. The Glam Status isn’t just something I’ve grown as a business—it has helped me grow as a person too.
