Today we’d like to introduce you to Masson Liang.
Masson, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Funny enough, since I was a kid, my dad would always buy the latest and greatest camera over the years. He did so mainly, because he was a technology buff, but his love of cameras and photography ultimately, rubbed off on me. I picked up my first camera when I was around 15 years old and always dabbled with photography in and out, over the years. Fast forwarding to about five years ago, is when I began pursuing my passions more seriously and began photographing outside of just a hobby. I started my photography career photographing corporate events, lifestyle and a lot of events in Wynwood but ultimately, found myself falling in love with documenting couples and weddings. My brand and approach to weddings are capturing the moments that matter, emotions and just at the right place at the right time!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Judging from some horror stories I’ve heard, I’d like to say that my road to photography has been pretty smooth. I’ve been very fortunate to have been surrounded by such great people within the Miami photography community. Being a part of the community early on, has helped me tremendously in avoiding mistakes and just going down the “right” path. I am looking to make some business changes and shifts to my brand soon, so let’s see how that pans out! 🙂
Please tell us about Masson Liang Photography.
My primary focus is on documenting couples and weddings. As mentioned above, I take pride in being at the right place a the right time and capturing the essence of the day. I think my approach to my couples sets me apart from others because from day 1, I try to make my couples feel as comfortable as possible and want them to see me as a friend rather than a vendor. Often times, you can find me and my couples texting each other endless GIFs and memes leading up to wedding day, haha!
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
The majority of my traveling was all done in my teens and one my favorite memories has to be when I visited China for the first time. This trip was so memorable to me for a few reasons; one is that it was like a whole new world with the culture shock and secondly, I was able to meet all of my grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins.
My wife and I, just had our first baby four months ago and hoped we could also take him to visit China when he’s a bit older.
