Today we’d like to introduce you to Maryann Rivera-Dannert.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Maryann. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Becoming a life coach happened organically. I have the type of personality that attracts people and conversations naturally happen: once I connect with someone, I can talk for hours. I enjoy bringing people together, women in particular. It doesn’t matter the social-economic background, ethnic group or professional background: women period. So my monthly girls-only get-togethers morphed into a coaching business. I hired a business coach, and that connection led to my first writing project and to date, I have published four anthologies.
My passion for inspiring, empowering and equipping women with the tools to live a free and happy life come from what I lacked growing up and in my early adult years. We all have something we’re dealing with, and sometimes having an ally helps.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Oh no! Okay, so a little background. I’ve been in Florida for three and a half years now. I relocated here from Upstate New York. I traded in the gloves, scarves and boots for sunglasses, sunscreen and flip flops.
In the transition, being completely transparent, I shut everything down. I was getting to know a new state, city and learning how I fit into it all. I decided that I had to let go of the past – what was. I had to realize that for things to work here, I had to commit to being here: mind, body and soul. So I hired a photographer for some new professional photos, reached out to one of my business connections for personal branding, launched a new website and let the Universe take over. I started talking to people where I worked about my passions, previous works and I realized that when you’re truly meant to do something if God has put that desire in you, things will always work out.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am known as the Fearless Living Coach. As a speaker, author and life coach, I want women to become fearless & fabulous! I want them to unlearn previous behaviors and let go of negative thought patterns. When women work with me through coaching, they come to the realization that their dreams, goals and passions matter. They learn to make themselves a priority and they start engaging in self-care. They learn that putting themselves first is not selfish – it’s necessary and in turn they show up for others in their lives full. Living free & happy is my desire for every woman. Living boldly in your truth gives you confidence. You learn to set boundaries, take smart risks and never settle for mediocracy.
What sets me apart is that my work comes from personal experiences. I can speak about sexual abuse because I lived it. I can talk about being a high school dropout and a juvenile delinquent because I was both. I can give women hope on setting healthy boundaries and knowing what real and healthy love is because I’ve experienced domestic violence. When we have the right people in our corners, rooting for us and holding us accountable, we become unstoppable. What I’m most proud of is that we’ve grown from life coaching to include being a speaker and author. Additionally, we also offer fearless & fabulous t-shirts, tank tops, wristlets and more.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Great question. I would say not to focus on others and what they are doing. Comparison is fruitless and in my opinion, serves no purpose. Create a vision for what you want. Write it all down, every single detail. And everyday make sure that whatever you’re doing is getting you closer and closer to your vision being realized.
