Meet Martha Janvier of Assisted Living Culture

Today we’d like to introduce you to Martha Janvier.

Hi Martha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve worked in healthcare for over a decade, and during that time I saw firsthand how much seniors needed safer homes, better support, and people who truly cared. That inspired me to open my first assisted living facility. I learned the entire process from the ground up; licensing, operations, regulations, and what it really takes to create a quality home.

While running my facility, I continued advancing my education. I completed my FNP program in 2019 and later earned my post-master’s as a PMHNP. Every step strengthened my understanding of seniors, caregivers, and the emotional side of this work.

I eventually closed my ALF to expand my vision. I realized my purpose wasn’t just to operate homes, it was to help others build theirs, multiplying myself in others. That’s why I launched Assisted Living Culture, where I teach and guide people from all backgrounds on how to open and operate ALF’s the right way. I also became an ALF Core Training Provider for the state of Florida to further support future ALF administrators.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely wasn’t a smooth road. In the beginning, I made mistakes simply because I didn’t have the guidance I needed. I actually ended up hiring a consultant after I had already done things the wrong way, and while it helped, it didn’t shield me from the challenges that come after licensing.

Once I was licensed and operating, that’s when the real learning began. I had to navigate staffing issues, regulatory expectations, unexpected inspections, resident needs, and the day-to-day realities you simply don’t understand until you’re in it. No consultant can fully prepare you for the hands-on obstacles that come with running an ALF, you gain that wisdom by showing up every day and figuring it out, one situation at a time.

Balancing all of this while finishing my FNP program, and later earning my PMHNP certification, was another challenge. There were moments where I felt stretched thin, moments of doubt, and times when I had to learn lessons the hard way. But every struggle prepared me for the work I do now.

Those experiences, the mistakes, the corrections, the unexpected hurdles, the hands-on growth are the very reason I became a consultant. I wanted others to have the support, clarity, and real-life perspective I wish I had early on. The road wasn’t smooth, but it made me resilient, resourceful, and passionate about helping others succeed in this industry.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Assisted Living Culture is an educational and consulting brand dedicated to helping new and aspiring assisted living owners open, operate, and grow their facilities with confidence. I specialize in simplifying the entire ALF process such as licensing, compliance, operations, and administrator training so people don’t have to figure it out alone or make costly mistakes.

What sets my brand apart is that I teach from real experience. I have been a frontline nurse, an ALF owner, a Nurse Practitioner, a PMHNP, and now an approved ALF Core Training Provider with the state of Florida. I understand the regulatory, operational, and human side of senior care, and I bring all of that together to guide others through a process that can otherwise feel overwhelming.

Assisted Living Culture stands out because it’s not just consulting, it’s mentorship, clarity, and community. I provide step-by-step guidance, templates, policies, checklists, courses, and personalized support that empower people from all backgrounds to navigate the ALF industry correctly. My goal is to raise the standard of care, bring transparency to the process, and open doors for those who want to serve seniors while building long-term, meaningful businesses.

What I am most proud of is the impact: seeing clients get licensed, open their homes, pass inspections, and feel confident in a field they once felt intimidated by. Assisted Living Culture exists to make the journey easier, clearer, and more accessible for the people who are called to this work.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happy is my relationship with Jesus, my family, and helping others. My faith grounds me, my family gives me joy, and supporting people in their journey gives me purpose.
