Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Chatburn.
Mark, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Everything began with my grandmother and the British version of the game MONOPOLY. Every summer, my brothers and I used to gather around her and play the game.
She was a British lady living in Ecuador. An active member of her community through her work with the Red Cross and who owned real state investments in the most beautiful places surrounded by nature. We would play for hours during tea time, and she would tell us exactly which properties to buy and why.
As a kid, I was already fascinated with the idea of being able to build, buy and sell properties. Fast forward to 2004, the year I moved to Miami during the real state boom. I started my career as a real estate agent working with a developer who built high-end homes.
Eventually, I became their sales director, and not long after, I was managing all aspects of their projects. I knew then that I was built to be an entrepreneur. I wanted to lead my own company and developments the way I had always envisioned it.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been quite a rollercoaster ride, with its ups and downs but a thrilling ride after all. I wouldn’t call it a struggle but certainly a lesson it has been to learn to recognize and accept my own mistakes. I firmly believe it is the only way to become a better person both in business and life. Ego takes you nowhere.

When people ask me, what do I do I tell them I am a knowledge provider, a real estate consultant. Rather than an expert in real estate transactions, I go beyond for my clients. I become their real estate business consultant. My company has two divisions. I am equally passionate and proud of both.
REAL STATE DIVISION:
We are a boutique real estate firm whose main goal is to guide clients with their real estate, buying, selling or leasing and support them through all aspects of the process.
What sets my team and I apart from others in the market is that our service doesn’t stop when the transaction has been done. Clients prefer us because we also offer help in managing any additional work the property may need such us to update the interior design, staging, remodeling to make it even more appealing to the buyer.
DEVELOPMENT DIVISION:
We are a real estate development consultant. We get hired to develop homes, not properties, in other words, we make our client’s dreams come true. Every client is different, sometimes they don’t have the land, so we get involved from the very beginning helping them locate the best piece of land according to their needs and budget.
In other cases, they already own the land, so we get involved in the architecture, interior design, and construction. In cases in which the client wishes to develop a house as a real estate investment, we also provide market analysis, benchmarking and the complete project from beginning to end.
Including of course selling or renting the property once it is finished. What really makes me proud is that we work every day for something greater than money, we work to make our clients happy. The best investment in life is to be a good person.
What were you like growing up?
I was very outgoing, I’m still are. I was a very curious child. I was always interested in getting to know how things work. I would spend hours looking at the sky on the beach, imagining things.
