Today we’d like to introduce you to Marissa Apraez.
Hi Marissa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have always been into aesthetics and my looks have always been important to me and as a woman if we look good we feel good. So in 2020 I finally decided to have lipo. I am by the way very transparent and honest about my procedures. It turned out to be a botched surgery. It was very a traumatic experience for me. I started looking at options as to what could I do to fix this problem. I had started modeling earlier that year and after a few shoots I quit. I was depressed my stomach look horrible so I finally found this procedure called radio frequency and cavitation. I did it for 2 weeks on top of a cream I looked into and omg what a difference. I felt better but unfortunately it wasn’t a permanent fix but it did make my confidence go back up. I had to get another procedure to fix it . After I decided to look more into the treatments I used. The lady I was getting my treatments from was actually teaching this and wood therapy. With no hesitation I just jumped right in why not make money off of the same thing that helped me . I was very confident and excited because I knew it really works. I looked more into the licensing and other things and decided I also wanted to do lashes but I would need to go back to school and get my esthetician license and that would cover everything I wanted and needed in order to accomplish this. I had worked in Sephora around 2010 so it was like seeing why things happened the way they did like life was preparing me without my knowledge and it was a beautiful surprise. I graduated top of class aced my exam with a 93% and opened up my business Munecas Beauty Bar. I love giving back to the community and making them feel beautiful , proud and confident. When my clients come in its more than just a treatment, they get an experience and also a free therapist lol. I literally took a horrible experience I had and turned it around and made it something beautiful.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have been fortunate to have amazing clients and supportive friends to help me along the way. Its nerve wrecking to jump into the unknown but I think its the best way. I was kind of a natural . One thing about me is I am very passionate about everything I do , also being a perfectionist has its pros and cons. When I opened transitioning was challenging now dealing with employees and letting the reins go but I overcame it. Its always a never ending learning experience.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I really love just making the client feel good. I get satisfaction from just seeing the smile on their face as they look in the mirror . I am an esthetician and in my beauty bar I do quite a few things such as : Lash extensions, non-invasive body contouring (such as cavitation and radio frequency as well as my famous wood therapy sessions) waxing , facials , body treatments, brows etc. My most requested sessions are the non invasive body contouring, lashes and brows. I have special tricks I use to deliver the desired outcome. What sets me apart is the clients experience is always 1 of a kind. I tailor every client according. I genuinely care and I want the best possible outcome for them. Client satisfaction is something I always thrive for. Im very easy going and can read people really well so for me it just comes naturally. If you got it you got it you cant fake being genuine
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Me! Jajajaja Im a good mentor . But all jokes aside in order to find a mentor you have to be really open minded and want to learn and be open to hear criticism and feedback For others youtube or social media helps in this area because of the large community span. Some people learn more visually and the amount of information there is always something for everyone. Networking is important but it’s also the follow through. We can meet and connect with people but if there’s no follow up then you miss the most important part. We all have busy lives so the follow up is so crucial for it to be a successful connection.I honestly believe you have to be organized and know what you want to achieve as this has worked for me.
