Today we’d like to introduce you to Marisdey Iglesias
Hi Marisdey, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey began in the corporate world, where I worked in various human resources roles, helping companies shape their teams and culture. I’ve always been passionate about connecting with people, and that’s what led me to pursue a Master’s in Human Resource Management. After spending years in HR, I realized I wanted to do something that aligned more with my personal passions.
As a Cuban-born Miami native, coffee has always been a big part of my life and culture. So, during a time of reflection, I decided to take a leap and combine my love for coffee and people by starting my own business, ‘Cafecito Pour Favor,’ a mobile coffee cart service. The idea was to create something that brings people together, whether at weddings, corporate events, or community gatherings. I source my beans from local roasters to keep that Miami essence alive and focus on serving espresso-based drinks with a personal touch.
Now, I’m growing the business, building partnerships with locals, and creating experiences around a great cup of coffee. It’s been an exciting journey, blending my background in HR with entrepreneurship, and it’s just the beginning!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road hasn’t been completely smooth, but I think that’s part of the beauty of building something from the ground up. Transitioning from a stable career in human resources to starting my own business definitely came with its challenges.
One of the biggest struggles has been balancing my personal life—being a mom and wife—while building my mobile coffee business, Cafecito Pour Favor. Managing time, learning the ins and outs of running a coffee cart, and securing event bookings all at once was overwhelming in the beginning. I also had to figure out logistics, like sourcing the right coffee beans, selecting the perfect equipment, and deciding how to market the business effectively.
There was also the challenge of breaking into the event space. Establishing partnerships with event organizers and finding my niche in the Miami community took time. Competing against more established vendors and getting my name out there required persistence and creativity.
But despite the bumps, every challenge taught me valuable lessons. It’s been rewarding to see my vision come to life, and overcoming those hurdles has made each success even more fulfilling. It’s all about growth, and I’m grateful for the journey so far!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Cafecito Pour Favor, my work revolves around creating memorable coffee experiences for events, from weddings and showers to corporate gatherings and community wellness events. I specialize in crafting espresso-based drinks and customizing the menu to fit the theme or vibe of each event. Whether it’s an elegant gathering or a casual outdoor event, I focus on providing high-quality, locally sourced coffee, and making sure every drink has a personal touch.
I’m most proud of building this business from scratch. It started as an idea and has grown into something that’s becoming recognized in the community. Being able to combine my love for coffee, my professional background in HR, and my connection to Miami has been incredibly rewarding. I love seeing people come together around something as simple as a cup of coffee.
What sets Cafecito Pour Favor apart is our focus on personal connection and customization. It’s not just about serving coffee; it’s about enhancing the event experience. I work directly with clients to understand their vision and ensure the coffee cart complements their event, whether that’s offering a custom drink menu or providing a warm, welcoming atmosphere. I also source my beans from local Miami roasters to give back to the community and ensure the freshest flavors.
Additionally, I offer flexible event packages that cater to different budgets and event types. It’s all about meeting people where they are and creating something that feels special and unique for each client. I think my HR background helps me stand out as well since I understand the importance of relationships and communication, which translates into providing exceptional service.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Even though Cafecito Pour Favor started after the height of the COVID-19 crisis, the lessons from that time have still shaped the way I approach the business. One of the biggest takeaways from the pandemic was understanding the importance of flexibility. I realized how quickly the world can change, and it reminded me to create a business that could adapt to different environments and customer needs. That’s why I focused on making Cafecito Pour Favor mobile and event-driven, so it can easily fit into a variety of settings and be adaptable to changing circumstances.
The pandemic also highlighted the need for connection, which influenced my goal of providing more than just coffee. I wanted to create a space where people can gather, enjoy great coffee, and feel a sense of community—even at small or socially distant events. It reinforced the idea that people value experiences, and I strive to offer that with every cup I serve.
So, while I didn’t start the business during the pandemic, the lessons from that time—like adaptability, connection, and creating meaningful experiences—are very much part of the foundation of Cafecito Pour Favor.
