Meet Madalina Popelca of Miami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madalina Popelca.

Hi Madalina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m Madalina. A photographer originally from Romania, now based in the U.S. My love for photography started with capturing my travels: the landscapes, the details, the amazing views, but over time I realized that what truly inspire me is PEOPLE. The love, the connections and the moments they share. I was living in New Jersey and I was very lost at one point until I decided to move to Miami and that was the best deciosion. Photography is not just my job but also my passion, It’s what inspires me every day, allowing me to freeze moments in time and turn emotions into lasting memories. I pour my heart into every session, making sure each image reflects the beauty and authenticity of your story.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In the beginning, my biggest struggles were not knowing where to start, how to put myself out there, how to advertise my work when I didn’t even have a portfolio yet, and wondering who would trust me to photograph their wedding when I had never done one before. But I pushed through those fears by focusing on why I started: my love for people and capturing real, beautiful moments. Every small step, every shoot, every new connection, helped me grow into the photographer I am today.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I actually started out studying engineering, I loved the structure, the problem-solving, and the creativity behind it. But along the way, I realized something important: I wasn’t made for a life behind a desk. I’m a people person through and through. I love connecting, being part of special moments, and capturing the emotions that make life so beautiful.

That’s how photography found me, or maybe how I found myself through photography. Today, I’m a wedding and portrait photographer who believes in capturing love stories and real emotions, the kind that you can feel just by looking at a photo.
What sets me apart is my approach, I don’t just take photos; I create a comfortable space where people can be themselves. I’m most proud when my clients tell me they forgot the camera was even there, because that’s when the real magic happens.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5–10 years, I see photography becoming even more about storytelling, connection, and experiences rather than just perfect images. People want to feel something when they look at a photo, the warmth, emotion, and authenticity of the moment. Since I grew up in Europe and love its culture and beauty, I dream of becoming a destination photographer, capturing love stories in the places that inspire me most. I also want to share my journey and teach others that it’s okay to start on one path, like I did with engineering, and realize your heart belongs somewhere else. It’s never too late to follow what truly makes you feel alive.
