Meet Luis Rubio of Miami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luis Rubio.

Hi Luis, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story started when I was just a little kid. I was a skateboarder heavily into the MTV, culture, viva, la bam, jack ass, wild boys, etc. and I always thought it was so cool how they were able to capture such crazy moments with such practical camera gear, so as a kid I used to emulate a lot of these TV shows with my own video camera so since I was young, I have always been. Recording videos and editing, as I got older, I wanted to become an actor, because of the show entourage 😆 and I actually was able to land a few rolls in random TV shows and music videos, and somewhere along there I wanted to tap back into the production side of things. So I guess my career really started in 2014 when I began reaching out to as many people as I possibly could that I thought was in the field that could benefit me. I remember I used to watch TV shows, and I would read the credits of the TV show and I would look for a video producers or editors and I would actually Google their names and find them on LinkedIn and ask them how they got into the world that they were in and it wasn’t until a couple local DJs here. Miami gave me a chance to record their sets at night clubs here in Miami, so from there I was able to net work and get my way into Club world fast forward 10 something years later here I am now still in the same world of video, but Working with much larger brands such as Nike, the Miami Dolphins, miami
Heat the Florida Panthers going on tour with Drake for months shooting music videos with Rick Ross, Yo Gotti, Roy Woods Shenseea & just various brand & artists. I’m very grateful for the circle that I surround myself with and how they’re able to push me and elevate my craft. I wouldn’t be where I am without any of them this job and I don’t even like to call it a job I like to call it a craft or Passion has been able to take me around the world and see places that I literally only dreamed of it sounds cliché but it’s the truth and I’m very grateful to be in a position that I am and I’ve been able to do and see things that most people could legitimately only dream of.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has definitely been a roller coaster you know I can honestly say the first couple years were rocky a lot of trial and tribulation learning from mistakes. Learn how to balance money learning how to balance relationships you know these aren’t things that are really taught in school so I had to just fall to be able to get back up and get on my feet whenever I needed to figure things out. I feel that as of lately things have been a lot smoother for me just cause I’ve been able to lay the groundwork for the past 10 years of my life this isn’t something that I just started doing and I only feel like I’m just starting to scratch the surface.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
What I do is capture life I capture moments I capture energy. If you want to keep it brief, though, I’m a video producer/Editor/producer. I’m not sure if there’s something per se that I’m Known for, but I am just proud of the fact that I’ve been able to keep the lifestyle that I’ve always wanted for myself by not having to answer to really nobody and create my own schedule and spend time with my loved ones whenever I want and I think that’s something that I am the most proud of in my life not necessarily a project or a piece of work

I’ve learned throughout my career that it’s not just pressing a button and hitting record. I’ve learned that every moment that I actually record video I’m capturing something that could be priceless to somebody. I’ve been put in situations where I’m capturing somebody & they are no longer w/ us & it changed the whole dynamic for me. That moment I just captured could mean something way more to someone else that is close to that person.

Something cool that I’ve learned is that anybody who I am working could be watching what we created together and they’re just so extremely grateful to see something that they had in their mind come to life. In some way it’s like I’m helping people‘s dreams come true it sounds weird or it sounds corny, but it’s really rewarding to see someone see something that they wanted to come to fruition and I’m able to help with that.

I think what I specialize in is, Capturing those moments and having a really good fast turnaround time and just overall creating something really cool for my clients, creating it in a way that I feel stands out or keeps the viewer engaged

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t think any luck has played any role. I think it’s all preparation meeting opportunity and may be a little bit of luck 😆 🤷but I just know you can’t really get anywhere in this business without putting yourself out there and putting in the work.
