Meet Lindsay Francois of Power Room in North Miami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Francois.

Lindsay, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Hello, my name is Lindsay Francois. I am a blogger for Powerroommag.com, Public Relations Manager for S.O.B.E.H (@sobehinc), and soon graduating student at Florida International University. I am originally from Haiti and now reside in North Miami, Florida. I’ve always had a passion for visual arts, dance, and fashion. As time went on and my goals seemed further and further away from me, I realized that timing was never the issue, but rather the lack of confidence, discipline, and courage I needed to pursue my goals and dreams.

While in self-isolation, I started building better habits, practicing self-care, and working on my crafts. I soon began working on what is now Power Room Mag (@powerroomagmag), with the idea of a platform that will encourage women to look within themselves and embrace their journey towards success, all while being their most stylish selves. I hope that the conversation towards self-care and personal development will help women in our community realize their potential mentally, physically, spiritually, academically, and professionally. We are now over 300 Power Roomies strong and I can’t wait to share more of what I’ve learned and am learning with them so far!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road is never easy, that’s why too many deviate from it. However, for me, the road has been relatively smooth. All of it has to do with my time management skills as well as my self-care routines. Without a combination of both and, most importantly, perseverance, this road would have been much more difficult.

We’d love to hear more about Power Room.
Power Room Mag is an expression of self-empowerment from myself, experts, and the women and men who read my blog weekly. We provide tips and insights on how to put yourself first to accomplish your goals, whether those goals are nutrition-based, physical, professional, academic, or mental. It is also an expression of art and fashion, with the belief that you can look your best while accomplishing the most. I am so proud of the community we’ve built so far. The feedback from women saying they’ve learned or been inspired or entertained by our posts gives me great joy and the drive to keep moving forward.

What were you like growing up?
I love to dance. So much so, that upon arriving in the US, I became a cheerleader (Thanks “Bring it On!”). I once wanted to be a Fashion Designer but I’m not the best artist (for now). Lastly, I’ve been performing on stage since I was five, and a majority of my “career,” I was extremely shy until I just started saying “ YES.” That word alone has completely changed me as a person and has open my mind to new possibilities.
