Letizia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am Italian, from Florence. Italy is a wonderful country but lately not a good place to live economically and politically. So with my ex-husband, we decided to try for the USA and give a better future for our kids. So we bought this wonderful business and we moved to Tampa in July 2016.
Florida with its beautiful beaches and weather! My ex-husband moved back to Italy so I started this adventure just myself and my kids! Every day is a new day every day reserve us new things. It’s hard and not easy but for sure exciting!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Not a smooth road. I had to learn pretty much everything from language to how to run a business, But the hardest part is being away from my Italian family and friends.
Sharkey’s Cuts for Kids Tampa – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Sharkey’s cuts for kids is a franchising company, independently owned. It is a hair salon for kids but actually, it’s us a lot more because is a very family-friendly place where kids are welcomed with warmth so they can feel very comfortable for their haircut.
We have kiddie cars for the younger and Xbox one stations for the older, a glamour room and nail station for girls. Its a unique kind of salon so cool and funny and my Tampa location has now ( after a few mistakes) the best kids experienced stylists in town!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is when you feel proud of yourself and of what you are doing. Success is when your employees are happy to work with you and willing to stay with you. Success is when your returning customers are increasing every day.
