Today we’d like to introduce you to Leda Montes.
Hi Leda , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born and raised in Cuba and came to the United States with big dreams and a desire to build a better future. I began my career working at Miami International Airport in the Arrivals Department, where I developed a passion for helping people from all walks of life. I later joined the Florida Department of Children and Families, starting as an ESS I and eventually becoming part of the Hope Florida program, supporting individuals and families through difficult times. During that time, I was also part of an emergency response team through Food for Florida, traveling to several counties across the state to assist communities affected by Hurricane Ian. I also had the opportunity to work at the Lawson E. Thomas Courthouse in Miami as a Court Specialist, further strengthening my commitment to public service.
Although I was grateful for those experiences, I always dreamed of building something of my own. That dream led me to real estate. Today, I’m a Realtor® with Keller Williams Capital Realty in Miami, helping families achieve homeownership and guiding them through one of the most important decisions of their lives. It hasn’t always been an easy journey, but every step has shaped who I am and strengthened my passion for serving others and making a positive impact in my community.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Moving to the United States meant starting over, learning a new language, adapting to a different culture, and understanding an entirely new system. There were many moments when I felt challenged and questioned whether I was capable of achieving my goals.
Transitioning into real estate was one of the biggest leaps of faith I’ve taken. Leaving the security of stable jobs to build a business from the ground up came with uncertainty, rejection, and self-doubt. Even today, I still see real estate as a challenge at times, but I refuse to give up. Every obstacle has taught me resilience, strengthened my faith, and reminded me why I started.
I truly believe that growth happens outside of our comfort zone. The struggles have shaped me into the person and professional I am today, and they continue to motivate me to keep moving forward and never lose sight of my dreams.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I’m a Realtor® based in Miami with Keller Williams Capital Realty, helping buyers, sellers, renters, and investors navigate one of the most important decisions of their lives. As a Cuban immigrant, I understand firsthand the value of building a future through homeownership, and that perspective shapes the way I serve my clients every day.
I specialize in working with first-time homebuyers, relocations, new construction, and helping families find opportunities that fit both their lifestyle and financial goals. What sets me apart is that I focus on education, communication, and genuine relationships. I believe real estate is not just about closing transactions,it’s about helping people create stability, build wealth, and achieve personal milestones.
Before real estate, I worked in public service, including Miami International Airport, the Miami-Dade Courts, and the State of Florida, where I assisted families and communities through different programs and initiatives. That experience taught me the importance of empathy, patience, and advocacy, qualities that continue to guide my work today.
What I’m most proud of is the trust my clients place in me. My brand is built on authenticity, resilience, and service. I want people to know that whether they are buying their first home, searching for an investment property, or simply exploring their options, they will have someone in their corner who genuinely cares about their success and is committed to guiding them every step of the way.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories is spending time with my grandmother in Cuba. She wasn’t very expressive and was quite strict, but she showed her love through the way she cared for me and looked after our family. She taught me that no matter what life brings, we have to keep going, adapt, and find the strength to overcome challenges. Those lessons shaped who I am today and continue to guide me through both life and my career.
