Meet Lawrence Kaplan of Lawrence Factor in Miami Gardens

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lawrence Kaplan.

Lawrence, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My company is 40+ years old. I’m the founder… starting out studying oceanography and scuba…. which led to opening a small dive shop on the Suwannee River. Later, when moving back to Miami, I was granted a distributorship for Mako Compressors which I sold to many Scuba shops throughout South Florida and the Caribbean.

As things evolved, I developed purification products for these compressors. We continue to manufacture locally and now distribute globally. Users of our
products include the likes of Disney, US Navy, Boeing, Heartware, Miami Fire Department, and many other notable organizations ’round the world.

The other side of my brain has led me on an artistic journey through glass blowing and sculpture. Currently, as a resident artist at the Bakehouse Art Complex in Wynnewood, I sculpt in mixed media…. mostly wood.

Adding to those endeavors an as the founder of The Great EsSkate… a small band of inline skaters launched weekend fundraising event during the early 2000’s. Over 12 years we grew this into one of the largest and more recognized recreational skating events in the country.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As with any business and as it is with life itself, it’s been an adventure fraught with many hurdles along the way. Among them were economic downturns, law suits, and the most challenging…. illnesses.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Lawrence Factor – what should we know?
Wherever there’s someone working (or playing) and fitted with a face mask connected to a tank of breathing-air …think Lawrence Factor! We are the guys who make it possible to put PURE air behind that mask.

Our products are found in many purified compressed air/gas applications. These include scuba diving, firefighting, aerospace, and medical.

Another of our core product lines is actually a service whereby we analyze these gases in our laboratory.

It’s easy to be proud of a company whose risen to a place as a globally respected brand.

One whose products are sought after by other major brands. Last week I was watching a documentary “Chasing Coral” about the worlds endangered reef systems. I was most proud of this as I watched those divers air bubbles rising through the sea…. thinking to myself “L-Factor bubbles made this possible to film”

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Jordan Klein! The owner of Mako Compressors and who gave me the chance.

Jordan is also a world-renowned cinematographer. Notable for the TV series Flipper & Sea Hunt as well as many others.

God bless you, Larry. I am SO proud of you and what you have accomplished in your life. Keep Jordan in your prayers…talked with him today. He has some serious health issues. Also keep my husband, Gerald, in your prayers…he also has some serious issues. How is Jane? Give me a call… Is there anything I can do for you? Such as a Pour over will, Living Trust. Living Will? It is free.
