Meet Laura Patrick of Tallahassee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Patrick

Hi Laura, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been drawn to creating fine art since birth. I was born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida and spent a lot of time vacationing along the Gulf and the east coast of Florida. I studied fine art in college and spent the next 10 years honing my craft in New York City where I became the first female art director for an award-winning Manhattan design firm, partnering with some of the world’s top brands. I stayed true to my fine art roots and had my first show in Greenwich, New York. I’ve always felt most at home when at the beach and my work reflects this love of nature and all things coastal. My art exhibits and painting commissions span from New York City to Los Angeles; Portland, Maine to Jacksonville, Florida. My inspiration for my company, Lello Co. took hold when my daughter Chloë began saying “lello” instead of “yellow.”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being a full-time artist, entrepreneur and mother is a juggling act. But I’ve found that making art brings me so much joy and I love sharing it with others. I’m learning and growing daily and am so grateful for the continued support of family and friends.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I love working with watercolor and acrylic and exploring abstract and costal inspired art. There is so much beauty in the smallest moments. A gull overhead. Majestic palms. Spoonbills in flight. Idyllic oysters. For me, these are more than images captured on canvas, they are moments in time that conjure memories. Gulls, palms, oysters, fish, coastal abstracts and more. These fine art pieces reflect the wondrous subtleties of Florida’s beaches. This collection of artworks is ever-evolving. And I continue to find beauty in the details around me.

What are your plans for the future?
I look forward to sharing more of my larger abstracts and getting involved with more collaborative community art projects both here in Florida and North Georgia.
