Meet Linzi Martin of Launch Media Group in Palm Beach County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Linzi Martin.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After graduating from college in 2015, I explored a few different career options unsure exactly what I wanted to do. I ended up working for a tech start-up in an entry-level marketing position and coaching soccer on the side to keep myself busy. I played college soccer at Lynn University and wanted to stay involved with the game afterward as it was a huge part of my life for 22 years. I graduated top 1% of my class in 2015 with a degree in Business Management.

I worked at this start-up for a little over a year before deciding to branch out and start my own thing. My family is very entrepreneurial and both my father and brother (only 23) own their own businesses, so it’s in my blood. Throughout my time at the tech start up, I noticed a big gap taking place in the marketing industry. Small businesses couldn’t afford the budgets that marketing agencies were putting out there. I sought out to create a marketing solution for small businesses — one they could afford. I began working as an independent marketing contractor for small to medium-sized businesses in 2016 and was thriving. I would pitch business owners and audit their online presence to show how we could make it better by implementing different digital marketing techniques. I specialized in all things regarding social media, content marketing, and email marketing. Companies that couldn’t afford to hire a full marketing department would hire me. I realized I was on to something and that there was a real opportunity here.

In 2017, I officially launched my marketing agency: Launch Media Group. Now, I operate a remote team scattered across the US. We have 6 people on our team and are growing every day. We have social media specialists, content marketers, ad specialists, writers, editors, photographers, and more. We meet on zoom weekly for virtual calls to discuss tasks and go over client projects together. It’s crazy how much can be accomplished remote nowadays and this helps us keep our overhead low. It’s been the key to growing my agency. After growing the business in South FL over the past year with my team, my head photographer and I recently decided to move the agency to Nashville in the near future. We will be moving in May to expand the agency in Tennessee and still maintain and manage our Florida clients. We will be traveling back and forth throughout the upcoming year. I am a South Florida native, I’ve lived here for nearly 25 years and this will always be my home and a very special place to me. I want to make my city and state proud.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road to success is always under construction, isn’t it?

Starting a business is never easy. Working for yourself is a risk most are not willing to take. I’ve always looked at life in a way where it’s risk vs. reward. Tim Ferriss has been a big motivator for me as well as Gary V. Two key pioneer entrepreneurs I look up to, learn from, and constantly read from. They motivated me to CHOOSE my life, not settle for it.

I’d rather work 24 hours a day for myself, than 8 for someone else. Those that know me always say things like “can you get off your laptop?” or “what do you mean you have to do work it’s 9pm on a Friday night?”

Struggles: I started this business with less than $4,000 in my bank account. Finances were a struggle. Finding clients was a struggle. Being a young female business owner was a struggle. People look down and talk to young people as it is, now try being a female trying to break into the marketing industry. However, I had a talent and I knew I could benefit companies by providing affordable marketing solutions. I was constantly taking new social media courses online, learning about the digital marketing industry, and improving my skill set. I had to learn how to handle being rejected, turned down, and hearing the word “no thanks” a lot. You know what though? 10 no’s led me to my first yes and my first yes led me to my second yes and so on and so forth. It’s all about consistency and trusting the process.

At the end of the day it all came down to one thing: I wanted to say I created my life, I didn’t settle for it. Today, as I expand my agency and get ready to grow it in a new area, I am thankful that I trusted the process.

Launch Media Group – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Launch Media Group is a creative marketing agency designed for the thinkers, doers, movers, and shakers of tomorrow. We go beyond the bottom line for our clients.

We specialize in social media marketing, content marketing, email marketing, and photography for small-to-medium sized businesses. We also work with entrepreneurs and personal brands.

We pride ourselves on being an affordable and economical marketing solution for the small businesses.

I’m most proud of being able to expand to numerous states and have clients nationwide now. I am also excited to grow the agency in Tennessee in the future and hire more awesome team members.

What sets us apart? Our customization. Our prices. Our personal touch/relationships.

We personally have great relationships with all of our clients and strive to provide that personal touch and communication that is lacking a lot with other marketing agencies. Our prices are affordable and economical. We custom every marketing package for each client. There is no one size fits all and we offer something for everyone.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
My definition of success is a little different than most business owners.

If I know I could help one or two people a week and make their lives better, make their businesses run more efficiently, whatever it might be, I’d call it a successful life. Knowing I fulfilled my passion, I chased after my dreams, and didn’t settle… that’s success to me.

“To find and fully live your purpose in life, and to leave an enduring legacy of having made a difference in the world.”

— Ron Cordes, founder of the Cordes Foundation (one of my favorite quotes)

I wanted to provide entrepreneurs and small businesses marketing opportunities and solutions at an affordable rate. I wanted to give them a chance to have the services they couldn’t otherwise afford. Helping them helped me realize how much I love working with business owners from all different industries and telling their stories. Storytelling has been one of my favorite parts.
