Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The inspiration for starting Forever Love Puppies was a combination of our love for animals, as well as our own personal experience with our puppies and shopping for puppies. It was such a pleasure raising our Teddy Bear Pomeranian and feeling the love that he gives, and that we give back; we felt it was our duty to help people experience the same feeling and be able shop for puppies in a manner that is transparent, where the puppies are being taken care of and where the visitor is not being pushed.
One day we stepped into a national pet store chain, and we were shocked at not only the outrageous price tags but the conditions of how the puppies were kept and presented. Our experience in this store included pressure from pushy salespeople, which left a bad taste in our mouth. We also visited other pet stores and were met with similar issues, such as secrecy behind the prices and poor sanitation and atmosphere where they kept the puppies. So our idea was we could improve on this, and launched Forever Love Puppies as a hobby venture with one just one location, with one display and just a few puppies. And we followed through with what we felt would be an improvement which included transparent pricing that’s immediately visible on the website, no pushy employees driven by commissions, a relaxed atmosphere, and overall better conditions for both the puppies and the visitors.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest challenge is that we’re dealing with warm-blooded animals and just like humans, they’re susceptible to illnesses and other ailments. It’s never the intention of the business owner to want for any puppy to get sick before our care, during our care or after someone takes the puppy home. Because of this, we offer a 14-day viral and bacterial warranty and a 1-year genetic warranty, and all the puppies are inspected by a veterinarian and sent home with an official Certificate of Veterinarian Inspection. We always request that the family that purchased the puppy go to the vet within the first few days of purchase to make sure that they are starting off on the right foot with their puppy. Forever Love Puppies covers this free office visit at selected veterinarians.
