Today we’d like to introduce you to Kylie Olsen.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always loved taking photos and making art. With every opportunity growing up, I would designate myself as the family photographer. I would spend weekends and winter break photographing my boyfriend (now husband) and brothers surfing on days that the swell was too much for me to paddle through. In high school, my friends would ask me to take graduation portraits, then it became family portraits, and so on.
I began learning more, developing my style, and working as a Photographer’s Assistant at weddings, which is where I think I learned the most. I fell in love with the idea that I could make a career out of this art which I loved so much! So, I invested in professional gear, attained my business license, and am now on the verge of graduating with my degree in Studio Arts.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
So far, this journey of photography has been a smooth road. I have had to learn a lot more about business than I initially expected, but I love it. The creativity, independence, and most of all–seeing clients react to their photos with admiration. I think it is special, the way in which photos preserve memories. When I look at an old photo, I feel nostalgic and suddenly remember all of these special details from that day.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Kylie Braydyn Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Kylie Braydyn Photography is an LLC, where I am the founder and owner. You will often find my husband assisting me during larger events and shoots. I specialize in portrait photography, but details and nature shots capture my view as well. Most clients hire me for family portraits & graduation portraits. I also shoot for weddings, business headshots, surf photography, and whatever else my clients have in mind. I would describe my photographic and editing style as tropical, candid, and full of warm hues.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
After I graduate from Florida Atlantic University, I plan on continuing with my portrait photography business. Graduating will give me the freedom to spend more time growing my company, and more time traveling. Travel photography is something that’d I’d really like to focus on in the near future as my husband and I embark on our “year around the world trip”, where we plan on going to South Africa, India, Japan, and Indonesia to surf and document the world around us.
