Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristy Baker.
Hi Kristy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I began my dance journey at the age of two and have been dancing ever since. Throughout my training, I have studied a variety of dance styles, developing a strong and well-rounded foundation. Dance has taught me discipline, responsibility, and perseverance from a young age, and it has provided me with incredible opportunities to travel, train, and learn from some of the industry’s most respected professionals.
Today, I teach at several studios throughout the Miami area. While I enjoy teaching many different styles of dance, tap remains my specialty, my passion, and my first love. I am dedicated to sharing that passion with my students while helping them grow as both dancers and individuals.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Dance has been a constant presence in my life for as long as I can remember. It is more than a profession or hobby—it is a passion that has influenced every stage of my journey. I am grateful for the opportunities dance has provided and for the ability to share that passion with my students each day.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Tap dance has always been my specialty, and I am widely recognized for my passion and expertise in the art form. While I am proud of the many accomplishments I have achieved throughout my career, some of my most memorable experiences include serving as a guest judge on the TV show Dance Moms, performing in the Super Bowl, and working as a director for a national dance competition, which has allowed me to travel throughout the United States and contribute to the growth of dancers across the country.
However, my greatest accomplishment is not found on a stage or in a title—it is watching my students achieve goals they once thought were impossible. Seeing their confidence grow, their hard work pay off, and their love for dance develop is the most rewarding part of what I do.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Outside of dance, my greatest joy comes from spending time with my daughter and my dogs. They are the center of my world and provide the balance, love, and inspiration that keep me grounded. Whether I’m in the dance studio, traveling for work, or at home, family is always my top priority. ❤️
